What People are saying
Not as good as the Riu Kaya Palazzo.
Cb739on 17/08/2017 16:39Two years ago I visited Antalya with my partner for ten days at the Riu Kaya Palazzo. This year we booked the Cornelia Diamond and bought my sister with us. We found that the Riu was much better value for money in a number of ways.
I read online that other guests at the Cornelia Diamond received drinks on arrival to the hotel, however this was not the case when we arrived. Instead, we were greeted with a misplaced suitcase after an hour delay at the airport once we had landed. I then noticed later in the week that there were other guests receiving drinks upon arrival (they were Russian and Turkish).
The biggest downfall of this hotel was the fact that English guests were few and the ones that did stay at this hotel were treated with less respect and consideration than the Russian and Turkish guests. The staff at the hotel were more than happy to go above and beyond for the Turkish and Russian guests, sadly this is not the case for English guests.
There were numerous occasions when the three of us would go for a meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and not be served with basic things such as cutlery or asked if we would like a drink. We were happy to go to the bar ourselves, although the guests of other nationalities were served at the table. The guests at the bar were served in order of nationality or rudeness rather than the order the guests were queueing in. These incidents were simply a case of staff needing more training or perhaps hiring more attentive staff members. There was one staff member at the poolside restaurant who went above and beyond each time we saw him, but this did not make up for the rudeness of the rest of the staff in this section of the hotel.
One morning we went for breakfast to be repeatedly told we couldn't sit at the tables we were approaching. This is not a problem, however there aren't any signs directing you to appropriate seating nor anybody directing guests. By the time we found a table we were often frustrated and then left to find our own cutlery, napkins and drinks.
The food at the a la cartes were lovely. We found this was the highlight of our holiday. Although it would be easier if the hotel charged more per person for their stay rather than keep charging €10 each time you visit a restaurant while you are there.
The food at the buffet was poor. Very much directed at Russian guests which meant we were limited on options that we enjoyed eating. We are not fussy eaters in the slightest and still struggled to put a meal together each time we visited the buffet. Also, I did not see one themed night in the buffet for dinner, despite this being advertised.
Over the course of the holiday there were minor things that did not happen at the Riu (not being given clean towels, not refilling the mini fridge, staff being rude and inattentive, staff having very poor English, ordering food and waiting 45 mins for a pizza, staff showing clear preference for their Russian and Turkish guests).
The other major downside of the hotel was the evening entertainment. There is no entertainment until 9:45pm. Very strange considering this is a family hotel. The amphitheater has a show at 9:45pm-10:30pm which is cramped and hot with nowhere to order a drink without losing your seat. We did not watch the show often and this meant we sat in silence (no music) at the pool bar until 10:30pm when there would either be live music or a DJ. This was good but finished at 12 meaning the evening entertainment lasted for 1 hour 30 mins. I felt this was poor entertainment in comparison to other 5* ai we have stayed at.
Overall I would say this hotel is a 4* max. If you are going to Turkey I would book the Riu Kaya Palazzo, it is roughly the same price and the service, food choice and entertainment is 100x better.
Oh also, the animation team look and act inappropriately for a family hotel in our opinion. They are also pushy and persistent even when they are told no repeatedly.
Cannot fault very chilled thou
Stephen Hon 17/08/2017 07:17Main restaurant Food buffet massive variation but always the same but lovely so no complaints
Lunch restaurant by pool massive variation and menu was huge
Rooms were huge and amazing and clean
Other restaurants were all amazing and for £10 each there was so much
Drinks were beyond value for money they had everything, however as for beer only Efes light or normal
Entertainment in the main arena was always good, but in other areas not much going on so just sit around a table and drink away
Entertainment team didn't really approach you much but we're friendly I'm sure if I got involved they would of made more effort but was I on a chilled holiday
If I had a teenager I'd probably not go here and would take them to Royal wings again as that's full on for them but not as classy as this place
All staff were amazing and the service was second to none would 100% return, like I said outside entertainment not much going on and I'm not really up for the shows so enjoy the pool bar entertainment and there wasn't any other than a local band who played 2 times in 2 weeks and wouldn't let my 5 year old dance on the dance floor
Only saying...
But all in all amazing
What can I say... You really feel the quality.
Guney Gon 16/08/2017 23:00I visited several 5 star hotels in this region. I must say Cornelia Diamond is my favorite. You can ask why ?
1. Meals are perfect. Nothing to say. You can find the world kitchen here.
2. I made a reservation for different hotels each time but I cut and turn back to Diamond every time. Family room consists 2 seperate rooms for max 4 person. You can see the photos that I attached. I am a civil engineer and the quailty inside the room is top score. 10/10
3. Hotel personnel ... All are very hard working guys. Trying their best to make you feel the quality.
4.They have so big pools. You never force yourself to catch a place before breakfast and put your towel around. Each time you can find a Good place easily.
5.Hotel is so big but architecture is well organized. You can reach to main restaurant very easily.
6. Sea side is intermediate as well as the other hotels in Belek. Mediterranean sea... Small waves and suddenly deep as 2-3 m from the land.
My overall grade is 10 over 10 to this complex. This is my 4 th visit and I am writing these now in my hotel. I really really love this place so much. Next year depending on my budget and my health of course :) , I will try to arrange a new room in Cornelia Diamond.
Disappointing third visit
GEKJOon 16/08/2017 18:08Our third visit in four years and we are disappointed that our "paradise" has slipped and we will not be returning again.
Positives - Our room was again lovely and kept spotless with fresh towels daily and also again at the nightly turndown service - much appreciated. The prosecco and fruit in the room on arrival was lovely.
The A la Carte Restaurants were superb - we ate in the Forest, Fish and Chinese. However there was no BBQ available as before.
Negatives: However, the hotel this year has a bigger percentage of Turkish families (we were told they are given discount/free child places) and we seemed to hear crying/screaming children constantly which we had never experienced before. We were woken up every morning to children running up and down the corridors. The food this time in the buffet was more Turkish and offal based with not as much international food as before.
Lunch in the Dome Bar was somewhat chaotic. We ordered drinks, didn't receive them. Another waiter would come over, we would say had already ordered. He would take order again to check and then eventually we received twice the drinks. We ordered pizza and fish one time. The pizza came but we then saw the waiter give our fish to a table who had just sat down. We queried with him and he went off to get us more fish. This again didn't arrive so my husband complained to the restaurant manager. He did apologise and then arranged our order himself. All this meant we then missed archery.
The staff work hard but this time they didn't seem to be enjoying their work and there weren't many smiling or chatty waiters. However we felt they had to put up with a less appreciative attitude from the change in clientele this year.
Entertainment: The nightly amphitheatre shows were as always very good. BUT what has happened to the entertainment at 10.30pm? The party nights were certainly not as good as before. Previously we had DJ Rain, the dancing girls and an abundance of robots, synchronised swimmers or the entertainment team taking part in themed nights. This year the party nights were basically the DJ and dancing girls with no extras. The other nights were the Dome Bar and either the DJ or live band which were really not that great.
We were never approached this time to take part in any activities but did go to the archery with Jenya who was lovely. However on her day off, no-one appeared and we had to ask the bowling alley staff to phone and someone eventually came.
The clubs hired at the golf club were old, tired and outdated. My husband decided not to go for his planned second round.
It's a shame that we feel the hotel has slipped down in our estimations and this review is no where near the five stars we gave on our two previous visits. Paradise lost:(
Negatives:
Fanstastic Holiday !!!
vfinlaysonon 14/08/2017 18:07Just returned from a fabulous holiday at this hotel. The rooms are lovely very clean and spacious, a great variety of food at the buffet restaurant and the al a carte restaurants are all very nice, especially the teppanyaki where the chef ( Jackie Chan !!) was just so skillful. The service was great in the all the restaurants and bars. Premium branded drinks. The entertainment team were also great especially Deniz with his watergym and brilliant step aerobic classes what a great asset to the hotel he is. Mr Paul was also excellent arranging the football matches for our sons. I would book again without hesitation. Thank you Cornelia !
