Amazing place, pleasant staff.. food let's the place down, not enough choices on the food.. the food as very tasteless. The fishig towns restaurants and bars where beautiful, such a quite town with superb views...

Looking for some family down time

Currently at the Cortillo Beach and had done our "Trip advisor" research so lots of hope we'd found the Jewel some were talking about.

Reception staff very welcoming and on first time around the pool what a great find so thought we were on to a winner. Not having to rush for sun beds and be crammed in ideal. We have a room overlooking the pool again all great but this is where it starts to go down hill fast.

Meal times are a challenge although staff are pleasant the restaurant is tired food very basic with little variety and hot food when trays are attended to are at best Luke warm. At meal times you can be waiting by food serving area for long periods. What is left over clearly becomes the bar snacks in pool area.

Such a shame as hotel is clean and room was fine but having to go in search of food to supplement poor mealtimes means all inclusive not really worth the extra as drinks you have are not premium.

Sadly as El Cortillo is only a very small place you'll need to travel to see any life outside the hotel. A few bars and restaurants locally are ideal if you want the quiet break away from it all. However if you want to be in touching distance of other areas this is not the jewel in the crown sadly.

Hotel rating could've been higher but food/ weak animation and entertainment area (bar next door) with its location brings it down. If isolation is for you then perfect.

Fantastic value!

We visit Hotel Cotillo Beach at least twice a year, and have done for the last 3 years. El Cotillo is a hidden gem of a holiday destination, totally unspoilt, with some of the best beaches in Europe.
The hotel offers fantastic all-inclusive value compared to an apartment holiday which is the main accommodation alternative in this beautiful resort.
It's 3-Star, so don't expect the same as if you were to spend £2000+!!! The rooms are clean and tidy and the communal areas around the pool are always spotless.
There are a number of rooms available that have recently been totally re-furbished to include air conditioning.
You get what you pay for, so if you can find better value for money here, please let me know! We'll be back in November!

Fabulous Holiday

We have just got back from our fabulous annual holiday at Cotillo Beach Hotel. Met some fabulous people and had a really good time. Plenty of bars around the harbour that serves really good food, English bar in the area called El Tolston (Yorkshire couple) for you home stick Brits proper British breakfast and fish and chip Friday. Good Indian restaurant. The beach is a short walk and well worth it, it has a bar on the beach, also a nice lagoon; take some sort of windbreak with so you don’t get pebble dash whilst you sunbathe, don't be fooled by the cloudy days you will still burn, make sure you lotion up and top up regularly every time out of the pool.

The staff;

Brilliant friendly and willing to help,

Animation team;

Louis and Marcus tried their best to get you involved in their daily events, but don’t pressure you, evening entertainment was a bit tacky but okay, bingo is free to play for a bottle of Spanish sparkling wine, but you will have earned it, trust me. Other games played throughout the week at the beginning of the evening other than that very weak in the entertainment side.

Rooms;

Cleaners are of a high standard, your rooms and surrounding areas, very clean, you don’t need a hair dryer one supplied in the room, and I am reliably informed it does the job. Shower is absolutely brilliant, if you want a razor shave or a bath, take your own sink and bath plug, as there is none in the rooms, I improvised with a plastic bag I had and the glass supplied in the room to create my own plug.
Fan on the ceiling is adequate to cool the room enough, don’t leave you door open whilst you sleep, you will get eaten alive by the mosquito’s, I do not normally get bitten, but they ate me alive, ended up buying fly spray from mini mart just outside reception, got my vengeance then.

Pool and pool/snack bar;

Pool area, very well-spaced out had no problem with the sunbeds, but we were there early in the season and as time went by it got busier and beds started to become scarcer, the pool is cold upon first entry, but okay after a while, really could do with a descale and some repairs (don’t swallow the water).
Snack bar I found quite poor really, as the snacks seemed trivial and not thought about for the kids although ice cream is in abundance, could do with a burger bar instead of cold chips, savouries and cake, drinks in abundance whether it be tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks or alcoholic drinks, beer okay, not a bad top shelf (spirits) mixers from a drinks server and not actually made, exactly the same with the evening bar.

Breakfast, dinner and evening meal times;

Impossible to starve or go hungry, the food is of good quality although sometimes on a little cool side.

Overall we had a fabulous time, well chilled and made some new fabulous friends.

EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went all inclusive and the food is very good. Who wants to heat piping hot meals when it is about 25c outside. Eat outside, near the pool, but keep away from the drains as they can be very smelly. You will find lots to eat and drink. The cocktail spirits are from bottles (not machines as other reviewers have said) - the mixers come from the machines! The reception staff and everyone are very good. The rooms are good but walls are thin. We had a ceiling fan over the bed which was great.The balcony was not very private and if you are in the corner by the restaurant there is no privacy at all. Why are the glass fronts not 'frosted' or coated to give everyone some privacy? The pool bar is OK but the evening bar entertainment is awful. The animation team are very good but leave you alone if you are not wanting to join in. The pool is great and not cold.Outside the hotel it is heaven !!! Fantastic lagoons, a harbour painted in blue and white (Greekish), and a beautiful long empty beach past the harbour. This is a hotel to return to if you want to chill out and relax.
