If you are looking for a very basic motel like property in that specific area this property might be fine for you. You just have to know that it is a VERY basic 50 or 60 year old motel and there are certain things that go with it. On the positive side, it you want to be in that location, it is close to everything there and quite convenient. Service was fine. Everything was clean. The room will have the original old aluminum sliding doors. Our's wouldn't work properly. Parking is just outside your bed so expect to be woken by each car that starts. I would say there is zero insulation in the building so expect to hear neighbors and be hot. No AC. Bed linens bottom of the line and worn. Tiny bedroom and bathroom but as I say this is expected. There really isn't much in the way of grounds and they are not really maintained. Again, if it's a super basic, very dated and old property you want it will be fine. If you're looking for a typical Carmel Valley property this might not be for you but compare for price and know what to expect.

Convenient and comfy

Hidden Valley is a bit dated and could use a facelift but it is virtually in town Pricing reflects that it is not at spa level. Tons of tasting rooms within a few minutes walk.

Beds were comfortable and breakfast very nice.

Pool was well tended and housekeeping spot on.

Really nice hotel, very clean. For Brits it felt more like a camping/chalet kind of place, but the room was good, very clean, if a little dated. The garden and pool area was beautiful! Nice breakfast, with the friendly owner making us tasty waffles to order. Walking to dinner just 5 minutes away was a real plus after a long drive.

Charming at a good price

We stayed here because of the location and the price. We wanted a place away from the fog, but close enough for dinner. We also wanted a pool. We did not want to spend tons of money. This hotel fit the bill.

I understand the pluses and minuses, it is not the high end. It is a 70's motel which has been updated. Clean, charming and surprisingly pleasant. The location is dead center of the wine country. There is a very nice clientele. Many were here for weddings. We spent some time by the pool [heated] and enjoyed the quiet.

The walls are not thick. your peace and quiet is dependent upon your neighbors. We had a lovely evening with no issues. If there was an issue, I would have called the desk. They were lovely and helpful for everything we needed and even those things we did not know we needed.

Fabulous little place, hidden away, quiet. Lovely!

It looks pretty unassuming as you drive in and down to the room block. We thought it was just another little motel but there is something that makes it really special. As we opened to sliding doors to leading out from our room to the pool we heard the sound of a beautiful classic concert being held in the music school next door. Very charming. Lovely pool. Really quiet hotel. Great, simple breakfast. Walking distance to all the great restaurants and wine tastings. We ended staying 2 nights instead of one. Loved it and would stay again.
