Historic Modern Hotel

This is a very nice hotel in downtown Amarillo. The lobby was very nice, as was my room. Although the building is very old-timey fancy, the rooms were modern and newer. I liked that there was parking and laundry facilities. I would stay here again if I go to Amarillo in the future.

Excellent choice for Amarillo

We chose this place for our weekend getaway to Amarillo because of the location right downtown. We loved how it had a few bars in the building across the street (martini bar, wine bar, club, etc). There was a pizza place around the corner with a full bar as well. It was also in walking distance to where we had reservations (Ohms) so the location was perfect.

The hotel was very nice and the staff was great. The weight room is pretty small, but it has a few treadmills/ellipticals and free weights with an adjustable bench. The room was spacious and had a mini fridge so it served its purpose. The bed was comfortable.

The lobby/restaurant/bar area was pretty cool. They made some really good specialty drinks. The Southside was AWESOME and I would highly recommend that one. The breakfast menu is small, but the choices are great. We had our breakfast there the next morning and we were very pleased with what we got. Especially for only $10 a person. The booths are cool too because they are circular so you can put your feet up, and each one has a small tv built into the partition. Made it nice while relaxing with a drink.

Cool Historic Building Downtown

Stayed here recently on a business trip and the hotel is located in a historic building downtown Amarillo. Room I stayed in had a good view and the staff was very friendly. Fairly consistent with what you'd expect from a Courtyard.

Overnight Stay

Reception staff friendly and welcoming. Parking conveniently located in a multi-storey next door, although this can be a bit of a chore when checking in as not always spces available in the spaces allocated for check-in. Access from parking lot only available at ground level. Room was spacious and well appointed however this was let down somewhat due to not being vacuumed properly, as we still had pieces of dried food on the carpet.

Historic Fisk Building - Courtyard Amarillo Downtown

When you think Courtyard Marriott one usually envisions some form of grandeur. Don't get me wrong the historic Fisk Building is grand, but the neighborhood is filled with abandoned buildings, the Greyhound bus station and many homeless. The only good things are the Mexican restaurant Acapulco across the street. There are several hoping clubs also across the streets. Not so bad, until it's bedtime on a weekend night and all you hear are drunks screaming or witness an arrest or two. The hotel does have a bistro, which serves good overpriced food. There is also a bar, but you may wait for a drink. Now my favorite part - the day staff are absolutely delightful. I'd go again just to see them. However the night auditor is a major jerk. I'm am a healthcare professional and don't mind spending $200 a night for a room when I visit this hotel. You knew a big but is coming. But, when you lock the front doors after a certain time to keep the homeless out and a guest using the room pass card to gain access and a couple follow in behind you (from the clubs across the street obviously) and inquire about a room and the night auditor chews you out for letting them in - well, I'm not going to have it. They may or May might be able to afford the room, but they have every right to inquire. They looked like a younger well groomed professional couple. I'll be damned if a hotel night auditor is going to speak to me in that manner. Trust me I complained to the manager the next morning. For that experience I limit how often I spend my money at this hotel.
