Incredible management and staff!
Kelly Pon 20/08/2017 23:10I booked this hotel months in advance and was thrilled that the price was a fraction of other downtown Indianapolis hotels. The location is convenient to many attractions, and felt like a safe area. An entrance to the canal is literally across the parking lot. We walked about a mile to Banker's Life Fieldhouse for a concert, but it did not seem strenuous in any way and allowed us to enjoy more sites of downtown Indy up close and personal.
The staff was very warm and welcoming upon check-in. Unfortunately, we quickly discovered we had a few issues with our room after the flawless check-in. The toilet leaked cold, but clean looking water that completely covered the floor. It was not a continuous leak, and it's somewhat unclear exactly where it was coming from. It happened only twice during our first day's stay. Additionally, the air conditioning unit was leaking water onto the floor. A large area of carpet was completely saturated and soaked. Because I am highly allergic to mold, I was concerned that staying in the room would make me ill, but fortunately it did not. The problem with the air conditioner must not have been going on for too long, or my allergies would have suffered. The staff was very kind and so, so apologetic. They would have moved us to a different room, but the hotel was sold out for the night. We were promised a room change the following day, and were also compensated with free breakfast and parking!
We were pleased after switching rooms the following day. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, and the beds were mostly comfortable. We had no problems with the second room other than somehow getting locked out of our bathroom, in which I place no blame on the hotel. It must not be an often occurring issue, because it did take a little while for them to figure out how to unlock it. In the meantime, a vacant neighboring room was opened for us to use as we got ready to go out for the night.
The best part of this hotel besides the competitive pricing, is that the staff sincerely went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure the problems we experienced were rectified. It is uncommon to find such amazing customer service these days, and I give kudos the the incredible management and staff for being so outstanding! The amazing customer service well made up for the few issues we had. We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again, and told the general manager that upon leaving. To our surprise, we received a kind letter apologizing once again for our issues and they refunded our first night's stay!
I want to move in!
TravelingGrands2015on 20/08/2017 23:08Loved our few days (there for a sporting event) there - and fell in love with the Salt Water Pool!!! Unfortunately, the whirlpool was closed for repairs, but the regular pool was so warm and wonderful and relaxing, it didn't even matter. The rooms were large and comfortable, the air conditioner worked, the staff were wonderful, and the stay was just perfect. Good places to eat are in the neighborhood, it's a hop/skip/jump away from the Canal, paddleboats, and museums, and White River State Park, (in other words, you can walk everywhere), and it's safe. Highly recommend this place...only wish they offered an inclusive breakfast - that would have made it perfect. However, the coffee show, although pricey, offered great coffee, snacks, and sandwiches. And there is a microwave and fridge in the room, so, all in all, quite workable.
Have Stayed in Better Places
Eva Gon 14/08/2017 03:07Was looking for a hotel close enough to walk to convention center, so thought being a Courtyard Marriott it would be nice. It was in good enough walking distance to a lot downtown but pretty inconvenient if needing drinks, snacks, toiletries & such, you had to walk at least 3 blocks (6 total) or pay outrageously at the hotel. The people at the front desk were nice & fairly helpful but housekeeping was pretty poor. There were stains on the carpet. The hot tub was out of commission the whole week, but never seen anyone work on it either. They have a Bristo downstairs where you could order breakfast & food at certain times of the day. Ordered there twice, the food was ok but on the last day we got breakfast there & I never got the potatoes that was to come with my meal & the eggs were not cooked as ordered. We were pretty disappointed & would not recommend staying there.
A nice hotel in a nice location
Craig Son 10/08/2017 23:48This hotel is a very good mid-range hotel. It was very clean and reasonably quiet. The water pressure in the showers is some of the best I have experienced at a hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of all of the major downtown attractions (canal, Lucas Oil Stadium, Circle Center Mall, convention center, etc).
What sets this hotel apart is the staff. Every staff member was very friendly and eager to help. Jason Cordell, the front desk rep, is the best hotel employee I have ever encountered. There were many church groups staying at the hotel when I was there. Even when there were three and four groups trying to check in, each with their own issues and problems, Jason remained unflappable and friendly. He provided great recommendations for places to go and things to do in Indianapolis, providing service that was almost concierge-level. Jason truly went above and beyond in making sure that everyone had a great experience.
Beautiful Canal Wall nearby and Vibrant Downtown area
Cindy Bon 06/08/2017 01:40I prefer to use the Marriott chain when I travel and I can say that this particular choice, was the best so far! Jason Cordell made himself our new best friend in Indy, the moment we checked in. We were tired on arrival, he sensed that and made check-in, seamless and easy, he also provided us with directions to the downtown area restaurants, as well as highlights of things we might want to see. He greeted us our entire stay, each time we walked through the lobby on his shift and even told me when his shift ended and what time he would return to work the next day. I have never had a hotel employee go so out of his way to make our stay so comfortable and easy! The room was very clean, well decorated, large enough for comfort on a business trip. I will definitely stay here again when in Indy, even though there are other hotels closer to the convention center, this one is my choice. It also has access to the beautiful canal walk, close by.
