Very enjoyable stay
treehugger_12on 03/08/2017 20:42Very nice house that is well maintained. Very clean. Room was reasonably spacious. There is parking on the side as well as the street. Breakfast was good with good coffee. Easy to get to the bus stop - however we found it was really cheap to use taxis - 10 pounds practically anywhere which were far faster and more efficient so we got to see more of Glasgow. Owner very helpful in pointing out a festival that was going on and how to get there. Would stay again. Reminded us after a poor experience in Edinburgh how nice a guest house can be.
Unreasonable
Coloradoretireeon 01/07/2017 00:44We noted upon making the reservation that our itinerary would force an evening check-in. A month later but only 38 hours before we left for the airport, the owner sent an email. He would not permit our delay, and if we arrived at the latest time noted, he would not answer the door. We could sleep in our car at the sidewalk. We had little choice but to order our day to match his demand. When we checked in, he informed us that the breakfast included in the price would happen one hour later than usual. We objected that was an unwelcome and unwarranted change. The owner pulled out a two-page, 10 point font “contract.” He thrust it at us, “Have you not read this?” It was an accusation, not a question. Do you think you should have to read two pages of fine print to protect yourself from a host who makes no accommodation for your needs? We offered to wait breakfast a half hour and eat whatever cold items might be available. He ignored our compromise with “This door will NOT open before then!” We ended up not getting the value we paid for. You decide if you can deal with the operator’s unpleasantness, foolishness and rigidity.
Great find
aillyon 18/02/2017 22:51Attended a party very near to this lovely guest house. Room was immaculate and owners very accommodating. Reading previous reviews , I would remind people that this is a guest house which is run by the owners alone with no other staff. Great job and I would not hesitate in returning !
As average as it gets
evegagneon 25/10/2016 23:18Perfectly average hotel. Should be used as a standard for the average hotel.
Seriously, not super friendly (waaayyy too insistent on when we would check in so he could plan his day) but not quite disagreable either.
Decent breakfast, OK room (though we had booked a room with a double bed and got 2 singles, kinda sucks when you're on your honeymoon), fairly good location. If you can afford to go somewhere else, do so, if not, you won't get any bed bugs.
Clean and quiet
Rachel Eon 02/08/2016 10:16If cleanliness is at the top of your list, I recommend the Craigpark guest house, it was shining. The house and gardens are beautiful and the owners clearly take care and have pride in their home.
It's situated in a quiet residential street and is a few minutes walk to the bus which takes you in to the town centre. The house also has off road parking.
I stayed in room no 3, it had a front aspect and also a large beautiful window to the side aspect . The room was stylish and had period furniture to suit the age of the house. There is a shared bathroom next door to this room, which is spacious and has a shower cubicle and a wc and wash hand basin.
The dining room is quaint, and you may have to share a table with a stranger . The breakfast was hot, and tasty , but basic.
The owner, was pleasant and professional.
One thing to note, this guest house provides an arrival window of 8 hours which I feel is extremely helpful and generous compared to most guest houses.
