Very nice
Laura Mon 08/08/2017 15:38The hotel has stunning views. It's clean and staff on the whole were very friendly - there's always an exception isn't there?
The rooms were a decent size, clean, fresh.
In house dining wasn't bad, but we felt there was perhaps a lack of variety from the main menu when it came to evenings. There was one evening where we ordered from the set menu and we were charged the normal menu prices, however the manager came and dealt with this quickly - we were staying at the hotel for a week.
Breakfast - lovely! Plenty of variety and choice. And the hot choices were HOT!
Used the pool and gym, they're small but ample for what we needed / wanted.
Ex-Loyal IHG Customer :-(
King_Faisal_VIIon 07/08/2017 10:27Where to start!!!???
Let me start by saying that I am a Platinum Elite customer with IHG, so book and stay in plenty of Holiday Inns and Crowne Plaza.
This has to be one of the worse experience thus far with the IHG group.
Although I live in London I am currently working in Glasgow so have been staying at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow for the past 5 weeks (from the 3rd of July 2017) and during this time there have been a catalog of issues. I check in on Mondays and checkout of Friday and each friday I decide to give Crowne Plaza one more chance for the following week but now enough is enough and this week I have booked myself into the Hilton across the road.
- The staff are horrible, unkind and simply found them to have an attitude on them. Especially the ladies in reception, simply do not make you feel welcome and not very helpful
- Water would spill out of the bath while having a shower (due to shower window seal missing - Raised it a few times but nothing would happen so for about 3 mornings I would have a bathroom full of water on the floor - Finally got fixed on the 4th night (as I was checking out)
- Sky TV not working in room (had maintenance guy in room for about 45mins trying to fix but unable so made me move rooms!)
- Air-con very noisy and did not really work, impossible to sleep at night - Maintenance guy came (after 2 hours of raising the issue) and unable to fix so made me move rooms
- Door hinge faulty so door would not lock - unable to fix so made me move rooms
- Wireless unreliable - so ended up using my mobile internet (at my own cost). Raised it with reception and told that it was fine and that there must be something wrong with my laptop (not very helpful that)
- Requested wake-up call - Lady in reception forgot to set it up so I was late for work
- For the first two weeks of my stay the Jacuzzi was out of order plus the pool times are incorrect on the site.
Having raised the above issues with the duty manager after the second week she was kind enough to upgrade me to 16th floor and provide lounge access. Also assured me that I will get the same room / floor for all my remaining stays (so I booked the next 3 weeks). This was a great gesture but very disappointed when I came in the following Monday to check-in that I was downgraded again (this time all the way down to the 5th floor where they dont even have Sky TV).
I took special note to ensure that all the above issues were all recorded on the hotel booking system against my 5 week stay so that the operation manager / general manager can call up all the recorded issues raised by me and address them directly with me. Thus far I've not received any communication from anyone at the hotel.
Very disappointed, having been a loyal IHG member for many years now I have just received my first set of Hilton Honor points (and still have a further 11 weeks stay to book in Glasgow).
Regards,
Very Disappointed IHG Guest of Crowne Plaza
Very good
Cathy Ton 06/08/2017 18:19I visited this hotel the weekend of the Ignition car show, so it was very busy. The staff coped well and we checked in straight away. The room was a good size and clean. The showers here are GREAT. Lovely water pressure and HOT (if you want). I used the gym all three days. It is a decent size with 2 stair steppers, a couple of bikes and some treadmills. There are a couple of other weight training machines and a separate smaller weight room. Everything is in reasonably good condition and the gym staff were very nice. We ate lunch at the restaurant a couple of times and the food was pretty good. I would just comment that the bar staff may need some additional training, as our group had a couple of things made incorrectly and/or forgotten. It is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the city centre, if you are walking quickly. Also, helpfully, the hotel has some jogging paths all mapped out with distances if you want to go running. It is a very pleasant run along the river. Overall it was a very good experience.
Disappointing
Katherine Hon 05/08/2017 13:24We booked a voucher for afternoon tea through wowcher for my step daughters 24th birthday. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel that because we had the voucher that we were not Eilidh able for the great service the crown plaza is renowned for.
We were the only group on the restaurant and we were sat on a table beside a bucket that was catching drips from a leak in the roof.
When we were served our glasses of prosecco, the lady that was serving them spilt them all over the place, just missing my husband and step son.
When the afternoon tea cake it was very disappointing. Basic and plain. I'm very glad that we never paid full price!!!
After all the confusion over the voucher when we arrived, we still hadn't managed to get the email address to send the voucher to to work. My husband got up during he tea to try and sort it out he spoke to a really nice guy that said "don't worry we just need the voucher number"!! He was very nice and redeemed the situation but I would not recommend this place for afternoon tea! Also drink prices were extortionate!
Excellent hotel in good location
Historrygrrrlon 01/08/2017 08:15If you are driving to Glasgow, this is a great hotel. Good car parking, easy to get to/get out of Glasgow from (as long as you have a Sat Nav!) and it is a pleasant walk into the city centre along the river.
We were on an upper floor and the views were amazing. The room was well equipped and clean. Breakfast was really excellent, and the staff were all lovely. Basic gym and swimming pool (the changing facilities could do with an upgrade, but that is my only small criticism).
Highly recommended.
