Great food, great location, amazingly expensive

We stayed in this hotel for one night. The location of the hotel is great since it is located at the end of the Mandarmani beach. We had booked rooms in advance. While the location is great, the room rates are way too high considering that the rooms are really small. The bed linens and pillow covers were dirty. The towels provided smelled of chemicals. However the food was tasty. We had ordered seafood prepared in Bengali style and it tasted great. Apart from the food there nothing much to say about the hotel. In my opinion there are quite a number of options..check them out..almost all of them are located on the beach and easily accessible. Take a calculated risk and try to book hotels when you reach Mandarmani rather than booking in advance. By the way the hotel staff were helpful. However, they always expected a tip or two for their services.

We went for the weekend. They have an extended property named six senses. I hv nvr seen such a horrible service in my entire life. Costly food. Disgusting room service. Ac closed in the morning hours. Pathetic... Over all.
Do not stay in this hotel

Service gone Down very poor & Extremely high food price but still a good place in terms of Price

This is second time I am visiting Debraj Resort in Mandarmani.First Time it was two years Back.
Location is good on the beach but Maintenance has gone down a lot.
There's a such a nice place where used to have nice seating arrangement now nothing is there....may be they don't earn much money out of this resorts so not putting any effort to improve it.
Entire night there's no water first time we used mineral water for toilet.
As per pictures there is small AC cottage which is good they asked me 2200 n Tax later with little negotiation they agreed 1800 .
They offered me 1600 per person including food n Stay which is good...2 years back the same package they used to charge 2000 per person.

They offer good food if you call Kolkata office for food package they will ask more sometime they ask 3000 per person.Better Book room only and talk about food package at Resort reception make a good deal.

In case you are not taking food package don't go for ala karta because its very expensive.I have given Menu card in picture.

Outside Resort there are Jhoops you can get really good food.

Why you should come to Debraj:
1- Perfect on the beach property , Good Location
2-Huge property so if you are coming with Family you will get space.
3-Pretty old property so you get desecnt crowd

Why you Shouldn't:
1- Cottage locks weren't working ,No light outside cottage,All out was empty no Towels provided....we faced many these problems and had to ask multiple time to fix this still you may not get a good service.One liner you wont get good service
2-There was no water whole night and if you call Reception no one to pickup phone.
2-No Maintenance of this huge property with similar setup ADB Canvas( next to this) arrange such beautiful seating arrangement.
3- Mandarmani you will find its almost strom ,I mean winds are at 20 km speed n full of sand....but other resorts make some arrangements so that it doesn't disturb their guest by putting some trees or putting big bolders and making front​ wet.Debraj do put any effort.
4- Food price is very very high except tea. even Sana beach price is lower than Debraj.

In simple way if you can compromise with service and want a good location with ok kind of Stay come to Debraj..but read my entire review and arrange food accordingly.

Choose this hotel only if you are stranded right in front of it (in which case, still try to go to some other place). This place is a slap on the face of everything hospitality stands for. From dirty rooms to inedible food to bad service, everything. And the irony of the whole situation is you will still see that one girl who is trying her heart’s best to make things work, but unfortunately failing for horrible management decisions. No towels, no clean bedsheets, questionable air conditioning, a “wardrobe” with three hooks on it’s top, boiled eggs served in their shell, diluted dal, chilli fish using rohu, liquid ice cream, “only bone” pakora in the name of snacks, slimy “pool”, I really don’t know where to start and where to end. The one star in this rating is only for the front desk lady who was the only one who cared about anything you said. I saw her doing near-24 hours duty, trying, and failing to meet all customer requests which were as simple as a cup of tea or a clean towel.
Consider these when you do plan to choose this hotel:
• They switch off the AC for 3 hours a day (they can easily install a windmill and / or solar panels to run the place, but won’t simply because of installation costs… they have to use the generator for everything).
• Their food is inedible. Good quality ingredients put to sheer waste. The chicken, the fish, the mutton everything was fresh but prepared with a lot of hatred. Sweet chicken dish without salt, watered dal, chewy aloo bhaja, liquid icecream, only-bone-no-meat pakoras in the name of snacks and burnt bread and shell-in hard boiled eggs for breakfast. They won’t make anything for you, not even an omelet.
• They simply can’t help you, even if they tried. Management has ensured its staff are the bleating goats receiving all the flak from all the customers and as a customer you can’t vent it out on anyone else, unfortunately.
• Forget computers, their billing is MANUAL and they don’t remember (or over remember) what you have / have not paid. I had to show them their own email to convince them that we paid an advance of 7000.
Choose a different destination that visiting this hotel.

This is 2nd time in this year,I went to Mandarmani.Its a very good place to hangout,Especially at Debraj Resort, Food quality is awesome & rooms are pretty good.Staffs are quite nice.Extra we get durga puja at the hotel.we really enjoyed very much.
