High quality, well positioned hotel
Tim Mon 13/10/2015 13:01Great selection of studio, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom rooms. Very well located 200m from the bay and great value. Ideal for families or as a budget retreat.
The breakfast buffet is traditional, fresh and well laid out. The outdoor pool is clean, well maintained and big enough.
Certainly the location is perfect for access to the bay and yacht club.
Exemplary service
Robert Gon 12/09/2013 15:10We travelled back to Balatonfoldvar in August this year after a lengthy absence. As children and adults we visited almost annually. Though there had been many changes so much remained as for the past 40 to 50 years. My daughter commented that you have to get Hungary to love it and she does.
The Hungarians have never embraced the concept of customer service, but the staff of the Hotel Del Porto are some of the exceptions. Lead by the very experienced Mr Tamas Koncz the staff of this hotel performed their tasks in a friendly and professional manner.
The rooms and the environs of the hotel were always clean. Breakfast was always well presented, the food fresh and the buffet replenished when necessary. Reception and bar staff always helpful and friendly. This in a week when temperatures where around 39 to 40 degrees.
The hotel gives value for money, a courteous and professional staff and an enjoyable experience. Thank you for a great stay Hotel Del Porto.
Relaxation in a quiet place
Tamas Son 23/07/2013 10:22It's a very good place to relax and enjoy the silence. Great hospitality, excellent rooms from the smallest double to the roomy suites. Bed and breakfast available for extra fee. Bicycle rental, bar, sauna, pool, table tennis and many more, including a conference room are available. Dog friendly, as far as I know.
Very comfortable place close to the lake and yacht harbour
NormBCon 25/09/2012 16:01Four of us stayed a night here just after the summer season at Lake Balaton packed it up. I can't therefore comment on how the hotel runs when close to full occupancy. I can say that our experience was good. Our rooms (we were two couples) were large and clean, opening out to a courtyard and the Lake.Breakfast fare was simple but adequate. Critically, the del Porto has a really fine manager, who in our case went far out of his way to help up out with a really challenge: finding someone in the village after 35 years without any contact.
The hotel is well located in town, and is well away from the main road. Trains run occasionally fairly close by but do so rather quietly. The tran station is quite close by, as are places to eat. Recommended.
A little nostalgy and fleur of the XX.century bathing
handhungaryon 11/07/2012 17:41Balatonföldvár is one of the few resorts on Balaton, which maintained some of the fleur of the bathing culture of the 30th of the XX. Century.
Some of the private villas got renewed (some of them are private, some others are operated as pension or hotel).
But do not expect an intact museum resort there.
One of the fairly kept hotel is del Porto.
Some tens of meters from the “molo” and the Marina with quite a number of bars (improving their standard year by year).
Same distance from the small railway station (which may bother you during the night).
The hotel is closer to the *** category than to ****, but the people are friendly, the food is fair, the pool is small but clean.
The biggest value is the small park around the building, with 60-80 years old trees.
You can enjoy a stay of 3-4 days, particularly with small kids.
