Great hotel but be warned - there is currently a very active building site opposite

We returned to the UK on 27th July 2017 from a family 4 night stay at Hotel des Inventions where we had two twin rooms on the second floor at the front of the hotel facing the Jura mountains in the distance. The hotel is spacious and clean and the rooms featuring a different inventor and quotations is an interesting approach. There is no air conditioning but instead a tower fan which was not an issue when we went although during a hot spell this could be a drawback. Breakfast is very good and the hotel location would also be great but for the fact that there is a large building site opposite with cranes, diggers and drilling carrying on from 7.00am until 5.00pm. This was not too much of an issue when we were out, but we had to stay in the hotel on two of the days and on those days the noise, dust and diesel fumes from the vehicles on the building site was a big problem to us. I took this up with the management during and afterwards but they had little to say apart from offering me a discount should we book there again. Unfortunately i could not recommend the hotel until the building work opposite is completed. You just don't need that kind of stress on an expensive Swiss holiday. Of course we did not know about this when we booked otherwise we would have looked elsewhere. My opinion is that not making potential guests aware of the possible nuisance/noise/smell impact of such a close building site is simply not being honest.

The Family room is existing as two beed rooms, a bath room and a vestibule with a kitchette. All are very comfortabel. Service is available in english or partially in german. Breakfast is included and also to advise.
We enjoyed our stay!

great hotel

The hotel is new and beautifully decorated. There is a feeling that someone has thought of every detail of the design, even the signs on the doors and in the bathrooms.
The room is equipped with an electric kettle, cups, coffee, tea and milk, refrigerator, safe, towels (many) blankets and pillows.
The room is huge, and the bed is huge.
The breakfast room is tastefully decorated, like a trendy café.
The buffet breakfast is rich and varied and very tasty.
It is worth staying at the hotel despite the distance from the center of Lausanne. It took us a 10-15 minute drive to the city center, and there is also public transport from the hotel.

Comfortable, spacious room

Friendly and clean modern hotel situated on the outskirts of Lausanne.
Excellent breakfast but restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings - as are a lot of restaurants in Lausanne. This meant we had difficulty finding somewhere for a meal after a long day's drive from Italy.
Nice big woodland behind the hotel - good for dog walking.
Interesting use of names of Swiss inventors for each room.
We had accessible ground floor room with open balcony. Unfortunately the 'mountain view' is obstructed by a building site.
