Refurbished

I had already stayed at the Soviet-style Gastinitsa Desna three years ealier, and was surprised to see that the place had been refurbished and renamed to Hotel Desna. There was a new reception area instead of the previous hole-in-the-wall. The old reception area had been replaced with a pretty good fast food restaurant. The rooms were also refurbished, looked modern and contained a refridgerator. Water bottles were supplied and replaced every day. And the bathrooms were updated too. The breakfast area now offered a small but adequate buffet.

The location is still very good, right in the middle of downtown Bryansk. My only disappointment was that the air conditioning unit was not nearly able to affect the room temperature, so my room remained hot all the time.

All in all I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Desna, and I would not mind staying there again provided the weather is not too warm.
