Great place to go with a group
bikrgirlon 19/06/2017 05:12Dexter's Inn is a sweet, New England country inn. We just returned from a weekend wedding there that was simply perfect. The property was fully booked with wedding guests, making it an especially comfortable experience, more like visiting in someone's home than a resort. That is the type of hospitality you can expect.
It's a great place to go with a group in the warm season so you can take full advantage of the analog fun (games) that are at your disposal at the inn. There are tennis courts, a small heated pool, shuffle board, croquet, bocce, ladder ball, soccer balls, frisbee...plenty of outdoor play.
The wedding itself took place directly across the road from the main house, overlooking a luscious green vista from a New Hampshire hilltop, including a view of nearby ski mountain Mount Sunapee. The reception started on the main house patio and moved into a large tent set up nearby for dinner, toasts and dancing. Without being overdone, everything was simply beautiful.
The inn itself is not luxurious but it is charming. It is a very old house that doesn't pretentiously try to hide its age. The first floor has plenty of common seating areas, including a playroom for very young children, a game room, a well-stocked library, and breakfast room. There are plenty of magazines, books and touristy brochures to be found around the inn to be enjoyed quietly in one of the Adirondack loungers or patio chairs around the property. Breakfast each morning included eggs, breakfast meats, and pancakes or french toast as well as coffee and juices. Not fancy cuisine, but it was freshly cooked and plentiful -- again, just like you might expect when staying at someone's home. Super-relaxed, not stuffy, welcoming. A nice place to chill and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Beautiful Wedding Weekend
on 10/06/2017 16:01We were married at the beautiful Dexter's Inn on 5/20/17. Every detail of the wedding was executed perfectly by the inn keeper, John Augustine. He was so amazing and helpful in the planning, and very responsive. We did all our planning from Massachusetts with only 2 visits to the Inn, in New Hampshire. We reserved the entire Inn for our closest friends and family from Friday to Sunday with some of us staying on Thursday too. We were ALL treated like family throughout the weekend. The grounds and mountain views are spectacular. Beautifully maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were so clean and quaint. And we had access to all the main rooms of the Inn 24/7. There is a recreation/game room with so,much to do, that our guests really enjoyed as well. The breakfasts each day were AMAZING. We used Chef, Rolf Scmidt, the Inn's caterer for our wedding as well as a friday night get together rehearsal dinner. He was a joy to work with, very accommodating, and the food was amazing and DELICIOUS!! Our guests loved every minute of our wedding weekend, and the price was very very reasonable. I highly recommend Dexters. We plan to go back again for a reunion in the future. Well done, Dexter's!! Thank you for an amazing weekend.
A Wonderful Inn
Jennifer Aon 25/01/2017 21:55The Dexter Inn is just the type of place you can relax in, whether you are just two or a family. There are many rooms to get comfy in, a room just for television viewing, a game room, and a lovely living room with a fireplace. Our overnight stays included a wonderful cooked-to-order breakfast. The blueberry pancakes are wonderful.
An amazing birthday weekend
Michael Gon 10/01/2017 14:34I rented the Inn out for my husbands's 40th Birthday. This property was exactly the perfection location to have multiple families come and stay and go skiing. John the Inn keeper was fantastic to work with, very helpful and accommodating. The game room was perfect for the adults to go to once all the kids had gone to bed. The entire weekend was so great, and we were able to make so many memories from it.
Cozy Winter Stay
FirstLadyKYon 23/12/2016 04:28We had an excellent experience staying at Dexter's Inn for a house-hunting trip to the area. When we arrived on one of the coldest days of the season, the Innkeeper John was gracious and welcoming, upgrading us to a larger room. We were very comfortable despite the bitter cold weather. John was very friendly, helping us to decide upon a nice local restaurant for dinner, offering to build us a fire in the fireplace and cooking a delicious breakfast to order. The inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the views of the mountains were gorgeous. Our room was clean, tastefully decorated and well-maintained. The linens and toiletries were first rate. When winter weather cut short our trip by a day, John was most accommodating about arranging for a refund. We only wish we had been able to visit at a time of year when we could have enjoyed all of the outdoor amenities.
