Disappointing dining experience
CBH3232on 09/08/2017 09:21Hotel Diamar, Arrecife.
Reception and guest rooms: The hotel looks to be recently renovated throughout the reception area and guest rooms. Rooms are clean, light and spacious. We occupied 2 rooms during our stay in 1 the fridge and toilet flush were broken and the bed smelt of cigarettes and the 2nd room the air conditioning was faulty and maintained the room at 25 degrees.
Dining: we had the pleasure of half board which was very disappointing the buffet evening meal consisted of 1 vegetarian, 1 meat and 1 fish option every night this is definitely a budget holiday hotel. In addition mixed veg the type that comes frozen in a packet or potatoes were on offer and a reasonably stocked salad bar. Often we had to wait 20 mins for the meal trays to be refilled or if we arrived before they had been refilled the servings were very dried up.
To our surprise for half board all drinks even bottled water was chargeable. Most nights the meat dishes looked like the previous days servings made into a new dish. Also for desert I think the chef had bought a 100 recipes for using a banana book as every night banana featured.
The dining area had 2 eating areas the first at the rear of the hotel which was a dark room with a pretty unpleasant toilet odour the 2nd area was next to the bar opening out onto the road where various non hotel guest would frequent the transport cafe type area with it's loud and overbearing TV often showing live TV for the locals to enjoy.
A further dark dining/seating area was located at the back of the hotel for which it's role was a little confusing it looked like a bus waiting area.
Similarly breakfast was very basic and lacked choice, the milk was always room temperature so not very pleasant for use on cereal.
My recommendation would be to spend a little more money and stay in one of the other hotels in the area until the dining facilities have been upgraded the cafe area has been separated and the chef has been replaced and a new menu put in place with more variety and choice. I would also urge the hotel to include basic water and juices as inclusive for the evening meal service & install a milk fridge in the self service area.
Good location
giana_14on 02/08/2017 16:07This hotel has a good location near the beach. Staff is friendly and helpful. Services are good. The only minus that it has is that it is very far from Playa Blanca (1h by bus) and Orzola (1h20 by bus) but everything can be solved by renting a car.
We liked here.😊
Amazing hotel and place
Sandu Don 02/08/2017 09:02Me and my girlfriend just come back from Lanzarote, seating in Diamar Hotel. Definetly this is 4 stars hotel. No way just 3.. Everything almost perfect: the room, the beach, restaurants everywhere and cheap, the people very friendly and helpers. The reason because i said "almost" is that inside the ocean was full with stones, was not very confortable to step on it.
Beautiful place
MarieSte10on 16/07/2017 21:23Fantastic little hotel. No pool but beach on your doorstep. Immaculately clean hotel/rooms...towels changed daily. Tv, safe and fridge in the rooms. Staff work hard to please and always greet you in a friendly manner despite being ran off their feet. Food is nice, we only stayed for breakfast and ate the odd snack there and we had no issues. Quiet area, mainly aimed at the locals but some lovely little cafes an restaurants along the front. Turn right for a five minute walk to the main bus station. 1.70€ to puerto del carmen an 1.40€ to costa teguise. Turn left for a twenty minute walk to the marina. If you want a cheap and quiet getaway, Diamar is great for that. If you fancy a good night out... catch a ten minute bus ride into the other towns. And return for a quiet night sleep. All in all a brilliant stay
Best 3* we have stayed at.
Danielle Con 16/07/2017 15:11Extremely happy with our sea view room. We had our towels and bedding changed everyday even though we never asked. The staff were pleasant and helped us whenever they could. Beautiful views of the beach. Worth the money and think we chose an awesome hotel for our stay.
Taxi rank behind the hotel and close to the bus station. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance.
The light in the bathroom had gone, we forget to mention it to reception on our way out but on our return it had been replaced! The maids must have reported it for us.
Thank you Hotel Diamar!
