Original shooting gallery
svacton 10/07/2017 18:36I can't honestly review the food because I have ever had it. However I did notice that they have lobster bisque for around $5, that looks great!
They also have a machine which is a claw machine that you can catch a live lobster in, if your good with the claw! If you get one the restaurant will cook it for free. At $2 a try we watch somebody actually win one.
But why is this a must-see location because they have the original shooting gallery from Geneva-on-the-Lake its still operational and people used to shoot 22s at it. If you ask nicely they'll even run it for you. Of course don't be a Snurr, (cheep).
By a beer, food or something it's only fair.....
The story goes it used to be a Chinese restaurant in this location. The present owner notice that the wall and ceiling didn't exactly line up so she punched a hole in the back wall and notice the shooting gallery there!!!
What a find, it is a Hidden Gem and possibly the only surviving public one that is on display. It's the coolest thing you've ever seen, originally from or manufactured at Coney Island, it had to be shut down in 1982, after Reagan got shot and they enacted the Brady Bill.
Go there and be sure to buy something to offset the inconvenience of just looking at the shooting gallery, but boy is it cool.
( and no I don't work there I just experienced four people standing there not buying anything but yet the owners were running the machine for them)
Diamond in the Rough
tami uon 01/07/2017 16:16Dont let the diner atmosphere and confusing menu fool you! The food here was fantastic! Our expectations werent high and we were so pleasantly surprised! Our server, Mo, was patient and knowledgeable as we asked tons of questions. We had the lobster bisque which was amazingly flavorful! We also chose two dinners from the daily specials: Lake perch pan fried, and Lake walleye with cajun seasoning, as well as the mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. It was delicious! The homemade tartar sauce was fabulous! The chef even came out to check on us which gave us a chance to compliment her and ask a few more questions. I have a feeling i will be craving that bisque and will be back!!
Meh
gailmills45on 10/04/2017 23:20This place has little to no ambience. The food is much better than the service or atmosphere might indicate. The owner does him/herself a disservice by not making the restaurant's physical appearance and service live up to the potential of the food. Too bad.
Good food. Terrible attitude
Kayla Ron 09/01/2017 18:09I've been coming to GOTL since I was able to say my first word. Once I got old enough, we started doing the bar crawl. Most bars on the card let you have a glass of water and you still get a stamp. You're not required to have an alcoholic beverage at each one. When my friend and I were still young, being our parents DD's, we couldn't get alcohol but every stop stamped our cards. EXCEPT Sandy Chanty. The head chef (the only chef, and I think the owner also) has always been grouchy since I can remember. You either buy alcohol or food, if not, you don't get your card stamped. The only reason we come here is because of the bar crawl. Even though the lobster dip is good...
Great fresky fish
