We stayed for one night but it was nothing to be desired. We booked a king room and they didn't have one available. They upgraded us to a business queen (apparently a desk and spinney chair constitutes as business). The room was large but felt bare. It was clean. Lots of noise from children playing in the pool. It wasn't for me, it felt unsafe.

This hotel is very clean I was scared to go in at first but I did to visit my daughter who rented a room here. It seems like most people who stay here are living here due to the fact of becoming homeless

Horrible and Misleading Due to Booking Site Photos - Not Genuine or Actual

I did not want to rate this location. It doesn't deserve that. I was so upset when I arrived. The booking site photos are terribly misleading. The property is so filthy and I am so disappointed that anyone could be charged to stay there, let alone charged the price of $70 per night. I feel this place should be condemned. The rooms are not clean, not even remotely. I am not exaggerating and just trying to help anyone avoid making the mistake I did. I checked out next day at 8:30AM and was denied (I asked the evening I checked in if I could cancel my weeks stay first thing next morning) I was informed I could with no issues. However, it took 3 days of going back to that hotel and re-reporting what took place and being treated as though I was being unreasonable. I just wanted my credit card credited and I wanted my cash deposit and it took 3 times of driving my there on 3 separate days. I can't go into all the detail of how bad it was, it would take too long. All counts of being at that property were miserable. I agree with the ratings. I wouldn't be so harsh but I was denied a basic request of checking out after leaving less than 8 hours. I was given every excuse you can imagine. The front desk is not equipped to check a cancellation out and I was forced to go back 3 times just to get my card credited. The Manager behaved like a typical hustler asking me what hotel we moved to and why and I explained that I didn't feel it was necessary to detail the obvious issues as to why this place shouldn't be listed on a booking site. There was swearing at the front desk in the morning between staff and shady income\s. They policed the breakfast nook, which I couldn't understand why "it wasn't worth having a bite to eat there" observed a man who appeared to be homeless passed out at a table with plates piled up around him. Seemed out of it. I feel bad for any guest who is paying that amount for the lack of basic provisions for a hotel,. I hope the owner can pull this off but in the mean time this place in not worth more than a $35 per night quality tops. Reminds me of what my Dad stayed at when he and my mother divorced when I was a child many moons ago. That says it. I would remove this property from booking sites for time being, it is an extreme disappointment after being revealed after check in. NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!

Scum, smelly

The room smelled rotten, the lock on the door was broken, the bathroom door did not shut, I did not get room service on Sunday, the FBI were there doing a criminal investigation in another room. Hard to get in and out of parking lot. Internet was very slow and most of the time did not work at all.

Great for the location and $$$

I come to SLC about once a year with a group of Brazilian students for the 4th of July and have stayed at the Discovery Inn since 2010. It has had its ups and downs, but in general is a great place to stay because it is well located, has a decent breakfast, good swimming pool, clean rooms and friendly staff Not to mention free wifi and computer in Lobby for guests. I cannot believe some of the negative comments about poor people around the hotel which is a problem any hotel with external rooms faces anywhere in the US. If you want to be isolated from the world then pay the price and stay at a closed property hotel such as Marriot or Holiday Inn. Otherwise stop complaining.
