Vacation 2017
familytimefunon 28/06/2017 14:20Well it's about time. Disney Hilton Head has Pluto in town on select activities. This is a nice treat for all. No worries shadow and blue crab are still here as well. The resort as added a small putting green, bocci ball, large checker board to the list of activities.
Awesome Resort
tbuss76on 28/06/2017 00:12Disney did it again. We own a DVC membership and this was the first time we used it at Hilton Head. It was even better than expected and we have high expectations being Disney people. They certainly set the bar high with exceptional customer service.
Maureen is the absolute best Concierge I've ever encountered. She managed to get our group of 9 dinner reservations to 2 locations who don't take reservations. Both were exceptional and would have been worth the wait but we didn't have to. Traveling with kids made that unbelievable.
We had a minor issue with a toilet running long occasionally. Saw a person on the property and strictly mentioned it thinking they could address it when we checked out. Nope, not with Disney. They sent someone into the room to fix it while we were at the beach. To top it off the resort manager sent vouchers for free lunch the next day. Not what we were looking for and I truly hope no one takes advantage of that but that's Disney. They want everyone to be happy.
No detail is missed, they have thought of everything. It's a beach resort with a fantastic pool area. It's exceptionally clean with the most courteous staff who are all very friendly. It's not Disney World but there is always someone there to great you waving with a Mickey hand!
Non-DVC Member Stay
Richard Kon 26/06/2017 00:25Our family of 5, with boys ages 7 to 11, stayed here for 5 nights in a two bedroom villa in June. The cast members were extremely nice and helpful. The lifeguards were all super diligent keeping an eye on everything. This is a huge resort and even though it was peak vacation season it didn't feel crowded. There are lots of activities and everyone was friendly and knowledgable. The amenities were great and included things like: shuffleboard, life size checkers, bocce ball, horse shoes, and super warm water in the big dipper pool. Our two bedroom villa was plenty of space for my wife and I and our 3 children. It included a stocked kitchen with full size stove, fridge, and dishwasher. The main bedroom had a king size bed and the other had two queens. The only drawbacks were: the beds were a bit hard for our taste, the couch and chair weren't super comfortable, and the quick service closed at odd hours.
little disappointing for the price
jkelchneron 25/06/2017 22:09We definitely enjoyed the villa- the cabin/ room itself was wonderful... however, we arrived at noon and could NOT get into our room until 4 pm- and when we did, it had a HEAVY pine sol smell that tripped up some allergies! The resort does offer some fun things to do while you wait... i.e.: hoarse shoes, checkers, bocce ball, shuffle board, ping pong, etc... The pool at the resort was ok- kind of small - being BIG Disney fans... was a little disappointed. They have a beach house ( Disney's Hilton head island resort is not located on the beach) that also has a pool, again kind of small - with No slide or anything "Disney unique" other than the very expensive eateries. They have transportation that goes to the beach house - but it stops running when beach house is closed. We decided to take advantage of the local 100 mile bike paths and rented bikes so that we could go down to the beach at any time...Hilton head has built a bridge under the main road - so you can avoid traffic- really awesome! only disappointment- again, Disney cost for bike rentals was 3x price of local rentals- ( and they will not price match). So we consulted our local coupon/Hilton head book to find a reasonably priced bikes - and found coconuts! They will drop them off, pick them up- and give you locks and baskets too! riding on the beach at sunrise is a MUST DO- (Zen like experience ) on Hilton head island! We did like the marina atmosphere- adjacent to the resort... the staff was friendly and courteous. For the money... I would encourage you to take advantage of Fort wilderness at Walt Disney World Resorts in Florida. there is more to experience and much less cost! If you are staying at Hilton head... find room for half the price and definitely rent a bike- and take advantage of the bike trails at Hilton head island!!!
Welcome To Southern Comfort Disney -Style!
Katherine Bon 23/06/2017 00:01We love this resort so much that this is the third year we skipped Florida to spend our holiday here! First year we went for one week, second year for two weeks, third year for three weeks and that will have to be our limit until I retire some day. It is so peaceful and relaxing which is just what we need away from busy work schedules! I've often heard the expression "Southern Hospitality" but I never really experienced it first hand until I visited Southern Carolina and this inviting resort. Be prepared to be spoiled as the staff do whatever they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We love the view over the ever-changing tidal march and had the distinct pleasure for the first time this year to actually have dolphins playing right outside our balcony!!! We couldn't believe it. Mike, the general manager is awesome! He's so friendly and on-hand every day ensuring that the resort runs like a top. Each evening they bring out cider and home made cookies, there for the taking as you come in the door. On cool nights they have a cosy fire in the fireplace of the lounge. There is a casual restaurant with patio seating overlooking the river but just steps away, over the short bridge are several good restaurants at the islands top marina. My husband was drooling over the numerous gracious yachts each night as we walked to a different restaurant each night. There is a large heated pool, plus a kiddy's pool and hot tubs. We rented bikes at the resort and enjoys many days of peddling along the numerous bike trails. Disney owns a fabulous beach house right on the ocean with constant shuttle service. It's an awesome beach and we could watch the dolphins right from the shore (some were coming in very close to the swimmers). It's an easy beach to walk for miles! Disney's Beach House also has a large pool, facilities, outdoor pool tables, changing room and casual restaurant. The condos are the second most spacious of any in the Disney Vacation Club collection (second only to Old Key West). The one-bedroom units feature a granite kitchen with island, full size kitchen appliances, dishes, flat ware, pots, pans, table for four, living room with queen size comfortable pull out, separate laundry room, two bathrooms, one with separate shower and one with huge whirlpool tub plus the large master bedroom with king-sized bed! The décor is delightful, designed after a 1940 fishing camp, casual but tasteful! There is plenty of parking and you can be as busy as you like or as laid-back, the choice is yours. No matter which choice you makes be prepared for a delightful, relaxing holiday, southern-style!
