Great location
dives1on 21/06/2017 13:45Stay here every year we are in Barbados and so do all my family friends.
In fact we all took time shares here a few years back. Great location, great staff and overall a perfect place to stay ! Recommend it
Reliable standard of accommodation and helpful staff
Virginia Hon 10/06/2017 00:04We have stayed here maybe 8 times. We own a timeshare week. However just to let you know, I feel that some recent reviews are unfair. The quality of the self catering units is certainly good enough for those who tend to choose 4-star type facilities, and I find the staff generally helpful and friendly. The pool complex has the major advantage of having 3 options - a family type pool, a quiet side pool, and - the bonus - a pool right off the beach over the road. The beach restaurant has become very up-market with the latest revamp, whilst we prefered casual beach dining. However this is easily achieved by walking the very short distance - along the beach - to Dover Beach.I would happily choose this resort over many others.
Could be so much better
susan qon 09/06/2017 17:48Bad - 1, First dont believe what the brochure says, there is no pool side bar or restaurant. This is a real down side to the hotel. The only place to get a drink whilst at the pool is to walk out of the complex across a road to down to the beach front bar and restaurant. There is a swim up bar and restaurant next to the pool but never open and I believe it never will be and hasnt been for 2 years!
2, NO LIFT. We were on the 5th floor and I'm recovering from pneumonia so short of breathe. All the staff kept saying was that a new lift was getting installed but at the rate they work at I wouldnt say the new lift will be up and running any time soon. Please make sure you get lower level if you cant manage stairs.
3, Ocean beach restaurant. They need some serious customer service skills teaching. Never a smile please or thankyou from any of the staff, behind the bar or in the restaurant. Food was good but after a few visits the staff put me off going back.
4, Nothing to do. I dont just mean at the hotel (no entertainment of any sort) but also in Barbados. Apart from Beaches, gardens, a cave or two and the Concorde (which is really good) theres nothing.
GOOD
There is alot of good too.
1, Rooms. Spotless and a really good size. Beds and bedding really comfy and good quality. Yes needs an upgrade but got everything you need plus more.
2, You can take your own drinks to the side of the pool :)
3, Plenty of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. Harlequins 100mtrs away and excellent, Champers a taxi ride but well worth it. None of these cheap but not much in Barbados is cheap. Also try the other hotels on the beach all their restaurants are really nice.
4, The people (apart from the restaurant/bar) are so friendly, yes you will get offered lots of drugs but just be polite and say no and they dont bother or pressure you again.
5, Everywhere is so clean. You can also drink their water. First holiday I've been on and not had holiday jelly belly.
6, Free minigolf and tennis courts. Its the only thing to do at the hotel so we made use of it.
Really enjoyed my stay but the hotel shouldnt advertise swimup bar etc because its a disapppointment when you get there.
Don't know where to begin
sammied3000on 07/06/2017 16:42This place is stuck in time to say the least. Very dated from 1970's. Rude and mean looking staff except for the receptionist Ingrid. I was placed in a condo by the beach and it was so dated , that it had no plugs in the bathroom and I had to step up 3 steps to go down into the shower. I am not sure what kind of contraption it was but I feared every time I had to get out of the shower; falling from those 3 steps would've not been pretty. By day 3, the toilet overflowed and I called the front desk to no avail from 5.30 am. At 10 am, I turned off the pipes and left the building because I was told that they were coming. I returned at 5.30 pm to see a sweage truck parked outside the building but when I got inside no one had worked on the toilet. Feces had now make its way from the bathroom to the bedroom floor. I yelled to the sweage truck guys and told them what had happened, to his amazement he said" you got a problem too? This whole building having plumbing issues". He then went and brought management who had the nerve to ask me, if I wanted a room change. I then quickly gathered my stuff and had to trekked across the complex to the main hotel building up two flights of stairs. Yes, the elevator wasn't working. No golf cart to transport guests, either. This new room was still dated but quite modern in comparison with the "beach front condo". I had to ask about compensation and was offered dinner for one night and breakfast for 2 mornings. I simply turned the offer down and I did received an extra one night stay for free of charge. I asked for some toothpaste as mine had fell into the bathroom carnage, and it took almost 24 hours for that to happen. I had to keep calling the front desk and they finally brought a Colgate for a one-time use. Not a travel size but a one time use. I never even knew that Colgate made such a size. This place suits a one night layover from the airport or a one night business trip. I am not sure what the occupancy rate was but the grounds, restaurant and beach were all like a ghost town
Very dated
doggfrenzyon 03/06/2017 08:48Stayed with DIVI south winds for 4 days. I can't recommend this hotel at all. First of all, the wifi is dead slow, you literally cannot even send an email with an attachment. I mean come on - it's 2017! The rooms are very dated. Breakfast was outside the hotel property in a separate restaurant across the street. The breakfast is not great either, although the ocean view of the restaurant was great. The only good thing about this hotel is its location - very close to St. Lawrence Gap where you can find many great restaurants.
