We arrived at the hotel at around 12pm, following our time at FIB festival in Benicassim. At the point of arrival, neither me or my partner were aware of the time as both of our phones had died the previous night and we had no way of charging them. When we approached the reception desk to check in, we were informed by one of the members of staff that we had arrived early (this was no problem- we anticipated that this may have been the case) and were instructed to come back at 1pm.
We then returned at 1pm and approached the same young receptionist behind the desk to check in, as we had been instructed. It was at this point when her behaviour towards us was quite frankly unacceptable. After bluntly telling us 'no' and shaking her head, to our confused enquiry she proceeded to raise her voice at us and become aggressive and threatening. We were told it was not possible and we were to wait. On sitting down in the lobby we were able to see the receptionist mock us to another member of staff.
We have since found paperwork that notes check in time for your hotel is at 2pm. I would like to emphasise at this point that we did not demand to be shown to our rooms early. We were simply unaware of check in time, and if we had been informed politely that check in time was 2pm this would have been no problem. It was the rudeness and aggression with which we were treated by this member of staff that ruined our stay.
For the duration of our visit, this same receptionist would refuse to acknowledge or greet us when we walked through the hotel. We did not receive any politeness, and responses to our direct queries- such as asking for the wifi password- were blunt. I often felt too uncomfortable to approach the desk for fear of the same rude and unnecessary behaviour we received at check in.
I am completely unable to understand why we were treated this way. I can assure you that neither mine or my partner's manner would provoke this horrible reaction. We are a young couple who chose Doña Lola as the destination for our first holiday together, and observed the same receptionist treat the older clients with much more dignity and respect. I believe that all clients should be treated in a polite manner whether they are young or old and find lesser treatment offensive.
Otherwise, the hotel in general was very nice and the facilities were very good. It was conveniently located in the centre of town and therefore a lot of things were in walking distance. The free breakfast added on top was a nice touch as well.
All in all, I would not say that we had an overly pleasant stay due to the rudeness of the staff, but the hotel itself was very nice.
Is an a best hotel in the town, great foods, and heavy cheap prices, you can ask in the reception about every places and they call the taxi and help you, fluent English and French as well, enjoy the visit like me! Have fun!
Two of us stayed a night here and enjoyed our stay. Check in was fast and our room was spotless and comfortable. It was adequate for the price bracket.
There was no noise as sound insulation from outside is high.
Breakfast was included in our rate, which provided excellent value.
We had a superb menu del dia in the attached restaurant. One of the tastiest meals we have experienced in Spain.
We used the hotel as a base to travel to the annual 'FIB' festival. Fantastic quiet location, perfect for shopping. Good transport links to the beach. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was a simple, but very adequate continental breakfast ( cereal, mini croissants, toast and juice etc). The staff are wonderful, they could not have done enough for us. Andrea on reception was especially lovely!!. The hotel has the use of two bikes for free! We cycled to the beach everyday which is only half an hour away with fantastic cycle paths or you can cycle on the foot paths without any problem! There is a good supermarket on the way to buy lunch and water. We ate at the cafe attached to the hotel a couple of times and the tapas is lovely! Cannot recommend this hotel enough! Happily go back again!
The hotel is a 10 minute walk away from the main railway station. We were quite surprised at the high quality of the hotel because it was so reasonably priced, makes a pleasant change when that happens. We had a family room that was well equipped and was really spacious, ideal really. The staff at reception were very helpful and attentive and very professional. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room and what was you would expect from a continental breakfast, plenty of variety and was lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel.
