Hotel lovely, bar staff rude
Divyen Son 06/08/2017 14:31We stayed for a wedding and had an absolutely excellent experience of the hotel. Hotel staff were lovely and there was a very good breakfast. There aren't many options for staying in Lenham and we were here for a wedding at the barn around the corner. This was a very good distance from the venue and the dog and bear was fantastic for guests to get ready in.
The bar however is a different story.
Given that they must get a lot of business from hotel guests and the barn venue around the corner, they were very rude on several occasions. Here's a couple of examples:
1. They got a lunch order wrong and made it sound like it was our fault when they tried to serve ham to a vegetarian
2. The bar staff were short tempered and rude when the wedding party came in to order drinks.
3. The bar manager treated us like children who were causing havoc in her pub rather than adults who were there to celebrate our friends' special day.
I'm not sure if the bar and hotel are run by different companies but they're world apart in terms of service, if I were to go again I would go to the pub two doors down.
Alright hotel at local pub in Lenham

The hotel is part of the local pub, the room we got was located furthest away from the pub so we were not disturbed by any noice. Ok room, decent size, comfortable bed, a bit runned down bathroom. Great breakfast. Lenham was a quiet, charming town.

Bruce Don 20/07/2017 20:16Normally when we are in Lenham we are staying with family, however on this trip said family was hosting a wedding, so we stayed in the Dog and Bear for 4 nights instead.
Very glad that we did as we found it to be excellent, and gave us new appreciation for the village also with the location being ideal.
We had a family size room which was more than adequate, and I felt that there were lots of nice little touches in the room, from toiletries, to water and even a bowl of sweets if we so wanted.
Breakfast was English fare, but it was very tasty and the wait staff were friendly and flexible with requests AND kept tea and coffee flowing on demand, which was very welcome!
I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to get out and about in the Kent countryside. We found it to be perfect for our family of 3, and gave me new appreciation for an area I already know quite well. When you add that the building itself is quite historic, you will have quite a charming stay as we did.
Nice Pub, Better Than Average Breakfast
Rick Eon 16/07/2017 15:16We used this as an overnight stop en route to a channel ferry. Very much a pub, with a good selection of beer. The room wasn't big, but was clean enough. Breakfast had proper pork sausage and proper scrambled eggs. Hard to fault overall.

anneX6985NDon 12/07/2017 21:54Had a late lunch, having agreed with the barman that we could leave our car in their car park to go for a pre-lunch wak. The ham, egg and chips was better than average. The ham hock and pea terrine on a pea puree was FANTASTIC.
