An enjoyable stay

After visiting Dolunay in 2016 for a 'pool day' we were determined to stay there this year, and what a great choice we made. Although it was a little bit further away from where we usually stay in Altinkum almost everything else was brilliant.

The apartments themselves are very well laid out, very spacious and very clean. Cooking facilities are not brilliant, but then I never intended to cook while I was there, bearing this in mind for the future I think a grill or a toaster would be a brilliant addition. The housekeepers worked hard every day, making sure the bins were emptied and the beds made, which in comparison to other places we have stayed was a massive improvement. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, even when we arrived at 5.55 am we were greeted with a welcoming smile. Sammy always had a big smile on his face, even though admitting he was tired quite often :) Nothing was 'ever too much' for any staff member throughout our stay.

The apartments and facilities (as well as the staff) are very child friendly, having two boys of 11 & 8 this meant a lot to us. Although I would suggest they up date their first aid kit on the premises, one day my husband helped a child with a head injury and had to improvise with what was available. (I hope the boy is doing well after his hospital stay - if anyone has any details)

Noise levels on a night were quite high due to the nightclubs opposite, but after a couple of days we had gotten used to them, sleeping facilities are at the back of the apartments so as long as windows were kept closed the noise was more of a distant level.

Air con is £6 per day - which is always a necessity for our family - the only problem is you need to removed the key when you leave which turns it off - it would be much better if the air con could be left on 24 hours if required.

Altinkum it's self this year was quiet for British tourists but there were plenty of Turkish tourists which was great to see - prices are very much on par with UK prices, especially along the front, bars and restaurants that are set back off the front give the best prices.

We loved our stay at the Dolunay and hope to return in the future.

Arrived here without the usual trepidation that accompanies trips abroad following plentiful review reading.
Lovely basic apartments, broadly functional, but dont bank on cooking hot food. Pool area fantastic and the first foreign holiday where you dont need to reserve a sunbed. Aircon is £6 per day or £3 charge if you use your own fan.
Take your own loo roll as the complex will only supply 1 regardless of your duration.

Altinkum was ok but looking tired. Plenty of Turkish tourists about but most nights the seafront bars and restaurants were dead, possibly because they were so expensive. Turkey is now on par with UK prices but if you head down Atuturk Blv you can find cheaper and better restaurants that are more authentic.

Would happily return to the Dolunay once Altinkum picks up again. The staff were a pleasure. Always smiling and happy to help and the reaction from Sammi when he got thrown in the pool but a bunch of Cockerneys was priceless.

Just returned from the Dolunay in Didim, Altinkum. A complex of 20 apartments, mainly two bedrooms. The apartments are clean and roomy, the gardens well kept and what you'd expect from a 3* complex. We stayed in a first floor apartment and the balcony was massive, the ground floor have covered terraces. The kitchen is pretty basic but with lots of food outlets around, I had no intention of cooking. Beds were comfortable, a double in the main large bedroom and twins in the smaller. Air con only in the larger room which was an issue for our group as the smaller room was stifling, the disco opposite meant if you left the window open the noise kept you awake until up to 6am. Anyone found using a fan was charged £3 per day. On a positive, the pool is great with plenty of sun beds.
The resort is a little run down, Turkey generally seems to be struggling at the moment and many of the bars and restaurants struggle to attract customers. Prices have increased significantly from my last visit, according to the locals, because of taxes imposed by the government. With a couple of exceptions, the restaurants are all very much the same. Some bars have entertainment on but this tends to be suitable for younger kids. Supermarkets are plentiful.
We did a boat trip (approx £10 per adult including a good lunch). They will even pick you up and transport you to the boats. Scenery was great but the music was loud and all hell broke loose when the foam party began. There are quiet boats so it's worth asking before hand.
We also went to the large water park at Kusadasi. This is an amazing place, spotless and (I believe) the biggest in Turkey. Took about 80 minutes by car. A word of warning though, the price advertised in the website is for pre booked tickets 75/50 lira. It was actually 100/75 lira on the day. Quite a shock, the dolphin display which lasts 45 minutes is not included in these prices.
Didim came alive at night, we stayed during the Turkish people's holiday period. The main pedestrian area was heaving but not many people were eating in the many restaurants. Shop keepers tend not to hassle you too much if your firm.
The Turkish people are mainly charming, the country beautiful but prices have increased so be aware it's no longer the cheap location it was.

The apartments are clean but very basic with that said what else do you need. The pool and surrounding area is the cleanest I have ever seen. The staff are very friendly and keen to please. Nothing is too much trouble. Location is perfect, however......there are 3 nightclubs opposite and the music starts at 4pm everyday until 7pm and then starts again late in the evening until the early hours of the morning. It is not too much of an issue when you are in the apartment but does grate when you are relaxing. The resort is dominated by Turkish holiday makers but Brits are made very welcome. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would return.

Can't wait to come back!!!

Just returned home after a lovely 2 week stay at the Dolunay Apart Otel. Must say it was a fantastic holiday and we enjoyed it that much we are already looking at coming back next year.

The staff are absolutely brilliant and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, especially the children! I took my 1 year old son (almost 2) and they were fantastic with him! Especially with his obsession with their car glasses!! 😂

Sam has been the highlight of our holiday and is a huge credit to Dolunay!! He would look after my son on the park in front of us so we could finish eating our breakfast when he was being difficult and entertained him every day making it a great holiday for him!

The apartment is adequate for basic essentials and is ideal if you want to spend most of your time eating out in the area.

The plug sockets are in stupid places! And they could do with additional cooking facilities other than 2 cooking rings! You can hardly cook on them!

Over all I am thrilled with the experience and cannot wait to come back and see everyone next year! Xx
