What People are saying

1 night stop

I really love this hotel because of the food. The food quality is very very high.
Nothing special about the rooms, the old ones are not so comfortable but they are trying to improve renewing some floors

Bad Food

Our room was described as a "Junior Suite" but it had nowhere to sit and was quite small; It was just an ordinary modest hotel room. We were required to eat dinner outside, in spite of our request to eat in the restaurant. Dinner, although quite inexpensive, was not really eatable. A mediocre and limp salad was followed by chewy chicken in sticky and congealed sauce that appeared to have been plated earlier and reheated. The dessert was a small slice of ice cream. This was the worst dinner I have ever been given in France. We certainly will not stay here again.

Warning to Secret Escapes Buyers

haqstaon 28/06/2017 07:33

We booked on a Secret Escapes Deal (first one purchased) for one night on way to Bordeaux from Gaillac. Wrong address provided in booking confirmation (so GPS could not find) and hotel staff on telephoning said it was an ongoing issue! (So they knowingly let people try to go to wrong address in a rural area). Road diversions made finding the town of Bazas hard and the second address given by staff over phone was also wrong! After a three hour drive, what should have been an extra 12- 15 minute trip from motorway exit turned out to be a 1.5 hour torturous experience in high heat. The first young lady at reception we thought did try and rectify matters with a complimentary drink. We asked for a better room and got it, the next day to be told aggressively it was their initiative. Later (the included in price 'cocktail' ) was a complete nightmare experience and the next morning a different and very aggressive young woman wanted to charge us for the afore mentioned complimentary drink and the cocktail!! The check out experience was the worst of my entire life. Not bothering to let your guests know where you are located and then to make them wrong in the extreme on checkout is well known no-no in the hospitality industry. I was embarrassed to have taken my teenage daughter there and have her witness such aggression. The irony is that a nice attitude and a couple of small genuine gestures would have resolved everything. It always comes down to attitude of course. Hate to write such a negative review.

The property itself I describe as quirky with some positive elements, most of all the indoor pool with doors open to lovely grounds.

Lovely Property in Bazas

This manor house, now a hotel, has very professional, efficient, pleasant staff everywhere and has an excellent restaurant. We were in a room with one bed, a bit on the small side, but adequate, with very nice décor and a nice, clean bathroom. It is a large hotel for the area and has absolutely beautiful grounds that seem to go on forever. It is a pricey for the area, but considering all the amenities, it's worth it. The large dining room is elegant and has a nice view of the surrounding country including grazing horses in the field next door. Dinner was excellent – nicely presented and tasty and costs about 26-37 euros depending on the # of courses. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of options: bread, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice, tea and even eggs cooked to order which is very unusual for the area. There is a very nice bar as well. It is within easy walking distance of the center of town. We found it very peaceful, quiet and a very pleasant place to stay.

Mixed

The public rooms have been recently done to a high standard, but the bedroom hasn't had any attention in years; abused paintwork, unusable drawers; bathroom had cracked tiles & mould.
Food was similarly mixed, nice starters but main courses were stone cold, one slightly better for being served on a hot plate - both went back and were microwaved, which probably spoiled them a bit. Staff friendly.
