I spent three nights at Duirinish Guest House on the singular buisiest weekend of the year for the Isle of Skye
SeeMyScotlandon 14/08/2017 20:19I am a Scottish Tourist Guide and therefore I stay in many excellent places throughout the country. Everything about Duirinish Guest House is exactly what I would wish for in a B&B. On arrival there is ample off road parking, front and rear, at the premises and it is close to a service station for refuelling.
The welcome is genuine and exceptional, the place is spotlessly clean and freshl every visit and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Just to put the tin lid on it, breakfast is enough to set a small army up for the day.
Finally, the premises are a five minute walk from the centre of Portree where there are plenty of options for dining and entertainment.
Beautiful gardens, helpful hosts, comfortable lodging!
BGMilleron 13/08/2017 16:04We recently spent 2 nights at the Duirinish Guest House in Portree. After being out hiking all day in the rain, Alan welcomed us and immediately took our wet hiking shoes and socks to the drying room where they would be dry the next day for our next excursion. After a quick introduction to the guest house, Alan also quickly arranged dinner reservations at 2 popular restaurants for our next 2 evenings. We then ordered our breakfast for the next morning and were invited to make ourselves at home for the next 2 days.
The gardens on the property are really lovely, with the front yard being a variety of colorful blooms and bright green, weed-free lawn. The backyard is planted with a vegetable garden and hot house. The breakfasts were delicious and served promptly by Ruth, who has a ready smile and cheerful 'good morning' for all. Our room was comfortable, with self-serve tea and biscuits at the ready. Nice shower with plenty of hot water. The room was quaint and nicely decorated. Even though it is on the main road into town, it was very quiet. It's a nice walk (about 10-15 minutes) into the main square in Portree.
Nice accommodations in a pretty little town with lots of good restaurants, delicious breakfast, and helpful friendly hosts. A lovely experience!
Extraordinary guest house
spommie2912on 26/07/2017 20:42We stayed with Ruth & Alan for the second time. They are perfect hosts, very warm & welcoming, they are always there for a chat & provide really helpful advice on what to do on the Isle of Skye. The guest house is beautiful, nicely decorated & spotlessly clean. It is only about a ten minutes walk from the town centre or the harbour. Breakfast is amazing, it offers a lot of options & is always freshly cooked. We would recommend Duirinish Guest House to anyone planning to stay in Portree, it is a wonderful place.
Lovely Guest House
Lacewing Bon 25/07/2017 07:36In a good location on the edge of town, only 10 min walk to the centre. Pleasant garden. This place is spotlessly clean and pleasantly and comfortably decorated. We had a bedroom at the front with a good view, it was spacious and had a decent sized shower room. The shower and all gadgets worked. Lovely breakfast including fresh fruit. Welcoming and informative host. We would definitely go back.
Visiting Skye
Karen Lon 24/07/2017 18:57This is a small B&B - only 4 rooms but each is very comfortable. The front rooms have views of the water. It's an easy walk to Portree and a good locations for driving up the peninsula or across the island. Hosts are helpful and knowledgeable, and provide a good breakfast.
