What People are saying

Warm welcome and great place to stay

Isabelle Mon 30/08/2015 21:44

We stayed in this property which offers up market chambres d'hotes, gites and also a large reception room in the chateau part. The property also has an indoor pool, gym area and a huge park. We stayed at this property because our friends had booked the party room for an anniversary gathering and this was the perfect set up for this. The couple who own and run the place are very welcoming and relaxed, making everyone feeling welcome, for example giving advice on local walks. We didn't get the chance to try the table d'hote but the food put on for the party was delicious.
This is certainly a unique and enchanting setting and the bedrooms are very spacious and modern.
The only snag was trying to find the place as we didn't have GPS and there is very little signage for the property in the sleepy village!

Charming

Three couples, friends from the past, stayed here for one night in September. The rooms were charming - ours had a Rugby theme which suited me superbly and one of the other couples had room with an airplane theme. The welcome was warm and friendly from the owners, the dog and the new baby Valentin. We did not use the leisure facilities but they seemed clean and well looked after. The breakfast was excellent with local and homemade products and was taken with other guests at a communal table.
Our only disappointment was that Booking.com had stated that there was a restaurant and a bar but there was neither. We would have preferred not to have travelled further to eat - one couple had travelled from the USA that day.

IT COULD ALL HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT

The place is run by a young couple; she, heavily pregnant, does ALL the work and is pleasant and fairly helpful. The husband seems to spend his time on the computer in the office. Otherwise in the course of a 4 day stay we only saw him doing some cooking. He welcomed us with a casual 'ca va' and did not offer to carry our luggage up to the room.
The hotel has been expensively refurbished but is badly maintained e.g. the bracket to hold up the shower head was missing. Lightbulbs were needing replaced. Our room, the one with the depressing four poster bed, initially had a musty odour; nobody had thought to open the window.
The main complaint was the very untidy nature of the public areas; junk everywhere, both within the hotel and in the grounds. One of the main public rooms was permanently covered in ironed towels, sheets etc. The grounds did not seem to be maintained, with weeds and long grass proliferating. If you like cats and a dog having the run of the hotel and grounds, this is your kind of place,
The food offered was fine. The tragedy is that the problems could easily have been sorted with some attention from the husband. It only needs to be tidy and a bit cleaner, with some maintenance to the grounds. I doubt whether this will happen, since some French people made the same comments on Tripadvisor last month; maybe the owners should take a look at this website!

Excellent stay

We stayed for just one night (wish it could have been more). The room was huge and very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also very spacious. We had and excellent dinner and a marvelous breakfast with a huge selection of food. I would happily stay here again if I was in the area.
