Very old style hotel! Expensive for what you get!
MVSnoopyon 26/07/2017 22:17The previous reviews for this hotel explain very well how this hotel looks like and is runned. We were very surprised to discover the prices for such a room and an outdated hotel!
Very expensive for what you get.
Disappointing
Lily Pon 12/06/2017 11:10We were actually rather disappointed with this hotel (particularly given that is a 4 star hotel).
When we arrived, we were looking forward to relaxing in the spa/wellness centre, but when we got to the pool, we found a very dated, small, and very busy area. The photos on the website were not so accurate. As well as this, we were given robes and slippers and were not told about the high price of renting these on arrival. I had already paid a lot of money for the room and was surprised to have to pay 12 euros per robe on check out.
Our room was also very dated, needed decorating and was very dark. The bathroom was also very dark and I burned myself on the bath tap.
We do not like to complain at all and love to try new hotels but, this was overall a very disappointing stay.
Old glory
ikke4000on 04/06/2017 02:20This hotel is what we call in Dutch "old glory". In the 80s and 90s it was probably nice and good, but now it is old fashioned and not worth the price you have to pay. The rooms are ok but nothing special and without a bath unfortunately. Breakfast was good but not really worth the 20 euros per person. This applies to almost everything: the price is too high for what one gets. The swmming pool is OK, but not worth another 20 euros to pay. Overall I would not recommend this place unless you manage to get a deal with all the things like breakfst and swimming pool and dinner included for a not too high price, i.e. around 150 euros at most.
The staff was very friendly, though.
The death of the right-angle?
eixalagon 24/05/2017 11:55My son and I stayed at the hotel for three nights whilst attending the Spa Classic. We were booked in by the trip organisers Travel Destinations (a five-start outfit in our joint opinion.) Finding the hotel the first time was interesting: finding it in the dark on the Saturday was more so, what with Ardennes country roads, the dim lights of an older car and the fact the hotel is tucked away - though close to a filling station which is useful.
It is a relatively modern place of, shall we say, individual décor and style set in lovely grounds and generally well maintained and clean. There seemed to be a general décor theme of nude ladies with cast resin statues, standing, reclining, tight-rope walking, riding bicycles, etc., all over the place (E650 for a medium sized one according to the label,) and one very strange print, seemingly the head of an African elephant but probably also a nude (or maybe it is just me,) repeated in various forms on the walls of the public areas. Check in staff were very friendly (as were all the other staff members we came across,) and the room was clean and tidy, reasonably well equipped if a bit tight on space. That came about by the room having ten differently angled walls (plus another nine in the bathroom,) and rectangular furniture (the best shape for beds really,) fits most efficiently in rectangular rooms. But is was different.
Bar service was excellent. We only ate one evening meal there in the bar brasserie (too dirty for the posher restaurant after a day at the track,) and the food was of good quality, more than sufficient quantity (it being Belgium,) cooked to order and reasonably priced. There was a "beer list" of course, and wine was limited to the house red or white which, for the quality was a bit over-priced.
Breakfasts were good. The décor of the breakfast room reminded me that I had forgotten to order some bean poles before we left, but there was squeeze it yourself orange juice to supplement the various juices from machines, fresh breads, the usual continental breakfast bits and pieces and scrambled eggs and bacon. More than enough to set one up for a six hour drive to the Chunnel.
It is not the nearest hotel to the racing circuit but was a good place to stay for the weekend's entertainment. Being out all the time, we did not use the pool and spa but they certainly seemed popular with other guests.
Much to improve
waiter11on 09/05/2017 11:14A large group of Business Colleagues and I stayed for two nights in this Belgian Hotel, in an attractive part of the country; the hotel is set in a quiet rural area, but it seems that the Architect of the Hotel project chose to ignore the environs and instead designed a bizarre building full of strange angles and curves. However, the real problems were elsewhere; in these modern times,is it too much to expect modern services? To get hot water in my room on both mornings, I had to run the taps in the basin and bath full on for FIFTEEN minutes, wasting many litres of water, before the hot water finally emerged. In addition, the wifi was quite simply the slowest any of us have experienced since the invention of the Internet; a snail could have carried the information quicker. We were delighted to leave this place and move back into the 21st Century!
