What People are saying

Beautiful chateau like hotel

DEDWon 04/03/2017 18:19

We stayed here to break a long journey to and from the south of France and enjoyed our stay. It is a very quaint building with stone walls inside and uneven steps but has charm and character. Some of the rooms and landings are rather dark but add a little mystery! The grounds are impressive and the restaurant is superb! We ate there both evenings and loved the ambience of the room and the food was first class and reasonably priced. Sadly, the indoor swimming pool was out of action while we were there. The breakfast was a little disappointing with little choice of pastries and cereal. We were very much left to our own devices and I had to have hot milk from the coffee machine for my muesli as there was no cold milk in sight ,neither was there any staff to ask. The golden labrador is very sweet and enjoys being made a fuss of. The bedroom we had on both nights was quiet and comfortable, though the en suite took a little getting used to: a partial wall and a curtain were the only things that separated it from the bedroom. Not very private and definitely not very romantic!

Truly excellent

We met for a friends birthday, a first visit for all of us. We enjoyed a superb dinner, service was very good. A very good choice of menu. Two of us chose the sweet breads, good choice. I would make one suggestion to the management that they update their wine list , so many hand written additions & crossing outs, a job to understand it.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Lovely hotel and quiet location

Used this hotel many times for seminars
We'll equipped meeting rooms and very helpful staff who can speak some English
Bedrooms are good. Clean and well appointed. Highly recommended and the adjoining restaurant is very good

Disappointed - Could be nice with a few tweaks!

We chose the hotel as it is just off the A10....it was very hard to find as their address is not clear, but once found, we were pleasantly surprised by the grounds and appearance.

The welcome on entering was a thick smell of 'wet dog' (from the resident labrador...who is lovely, but very smelly!) and although I always try to speak French, the owners seemed to take great pleasure in announcing their 'Non Parlez English' which I find strange considering over 50% of their customers speak it as their first language!

(the young girl who showed us to our room spoke a little English and told us that they had over 50% British clients)

The lack of affection towards the British is also reflected in the fact that although the hotel boasts Satellite TV there is no channel available in any language but French!!!

The rooms are very basic, but clean....don't forget to ask for milk if you like this with your tea in the mornings!

The restaurant is a 2 minute walk and enclosed in the main building courtyard - Superb food, excellent service and albeit expensive (£100 for two, starter, main, 1 bottle of wine and 1 cheese) it was served in a lovely atmospheric building and of a good French standard.

We returned to the bar area to discover it in virtual darkness, although the sign said it was open until 11pm (this was at 10pm). I hunted someone down who then declared that they had no white wine available (In France, just up from Bordeaux????) and they had to get the ice from the freezer (in the little home-made freezer bags) and the bar fridge was bare of drinks.....not a great atmosphere or a great variety of drinks...

Breakfast was continental, and very basic (nae bland).....self service which was just as well as there was a conference on and trying to get the attention of anyone was futile. It is good if you like bread, cheese and yogurt.....anything else and you're buggered!

This could be a lovely hotel if they just remembered who their travelling clients are, people like to drink pre and post dining and we would all like to at least have 1 channel in our own language to listen to in the mornings!

Perfect for your Seminar

I have just organised and attended a 2 day conference here for a group of French estate agents. The venue is central for delegates travelling from all areas of Western France, being close enough to the motorway to find but not too close.
The meeting room was well equipped and spacious, refreshments were served on time and the staff were both friendly and efficient.
The bedrooms are comfortable with a great shower.
The dinner in the restaurant was superb and the buffet lunches delicious.
We have already decided to use this hotel again next year.
Thank you to Jerome for making us welcome
Many Thanks, Agence Newton
