What People are saying

Basic but good value

BiarritzTaxion 31/03/2017 10:38

Don't expect anything special from this residence but it is as cheap as can be and for that you can ski in either Bareges (Grand Tourmalet) within 10 minutes drive or Luz Ardiden within 30 minutes drive. There is even a shuttle bus organised by the residence that leaves twice in the morning and returns in the afternoon. Only problem is that you need to prebook it the day before otherwise you are not allowed to board the bus.

If you arrive after the reception closes then there is a list of names on the door and it will tell you which is your apartment. We had a ground floor apartment as we had dogs and they made use of the garden. Reception staff are friendly.

You need to pack a few things of your own in order to avoid buying everything in the small carrefour in town. They include; toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, scourer and brush, towels and possibly your own bedding. High chairs are available for hire free of charge from reception.

There is a lot of noise from other people in the building as it is concrete and very little has been done about soundproofing, especially when people are going up and down stairs in ski boots.

The swimming pool was at 30C and was free to use.

Perfect apartments for Cycling

Dunky34on 23/10/2016 19:55

We arrived at the apartments late on a Thursday for a 7 night stay. The location is stunning as had been said before and the apartments are ok as a base to explore. We were here in October 2016 and unfortunately not a lot was open so the cooking facilities in the apartment had to be used, however there was no cooker so it was pretty difficult, but we managed. We also requested an upstairs apartment as we were originally given a ground floor one and we couldn't see the mountains that we had paid to see.

However I came to the pyrenees to Cycle and this surrounded by some of the best mountains in the pyrenees soI had a great day everyday.

Comfortable apartments

These are well appointed apartments and an ideal base for touring or outdoor activities. Our apartment comprised lounge/kitchen/diner with double bedroom and small bedroom with bunk beds. The apartment was well equipped with kitchen accessories. We liked the balcony and mountain outlook.

Great Location to Hike The Pyrennees

jwkrengelon 28/05/2015 12:32

We stayed at this condo type property for four (4) nites and it was the perfect location for our hiking and sightseeing. The staff was excellent and very helpful. A couple of items were missing from our unit and they took care of it immediately. Others have commented on some negative experiences but we found none of that. WiFi is only available in the Reception area. I would have gladly paid additional to have it available in our unit. The bedroom area is quite small - just large enough for the bed but this is made up for by the generous family/living room/kitchen area. Our first impression after we checked in a headed to our unit was that the common areas looked very depressing and everything was concrete and then we opened the door to our unit and we were totally surprised. We later deduced that the concrete was there because of all the skiers and ski boots that would otherwise ruin other flooring. Parking is easy and plentiful and you can walk into Luz-Saint-Sauvere in about 5 minutes walking along the creek. There is a Carefour Market in the center of the city that will take care of most of your grocery needs.

Great location, grubby apartment.

I would like to give this a 2 and a half as a two is probably going a bit too far but 3 is definitely too generous.
On arrival, you will notice that the location is quite stunning. The apartments are flanked on all sides by the beautiful Pyrenees. The buildings look lovely from the outside. Town is a five min walk which is very handy.
We had a two bed on the ground floor. When we walked in our first impression was that it was a little dark but seemed compact and pleasant enough in a basic way. However, it wasn't very long before we noticed the grime. The edges of the floor were filthy as though they needed a good scouring and the dirt extended up the walls in some areas. The kitchen did seem fairly clean though. There was no bath which is a pain with small children.
On pulling the fleece blankets out of the cupboard to put on the beds (a flat sheet that is provided wouldn't be warm enough alone, even in July) I noticed that they are probably never cleaned. Yuck! One was covered in what appeared to be dog fur and old bits of grass whilst the other had nondescript white stains on it!
I must have missed the info on booking about cleaning the apartment and we weren't prepared on arrival. I can't think of anywhere I've stayed where you're expected to clean and yet provides such little equipment for doing so. There wasn't even a toilet roll. The dust pan was covered in filth and the broom much too wide for it. I can understand how the apartment wasn't very clean if this is all you get. We went out and bought supplies from the supermarket in town. There wasn't even a bar of soap or loo roll in the bathroom and make sure you pack a kitchen towel too.
Here is a list of things I suggest you take if staying here...
Washing up liquid
Sponges for wiping and cleaning
Surface wipes or spray cleaner
Kitchen towel
Dishwasher tablets
Bleach for the loo
Hand soap
Loo roll
Floor cleaner
Your own blankets and duvets as the ones provided are not clean.
I'll add some photos to support my review.
We wouldn't go back here.
