Great hotel, central location
Vanessa Don 01/06/2017 22:46We stayed in this delightful hotel for 3 nights. We had a double bed plus a single bed for our 7 year old and there was plenty of space for us to keep our belongings and walk around the room. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were spotlessly clean and the ceilings lovely and high. The hotel is part of an apartment block right in the centre of the fashion shopping area. Although we didn't meet anyone during our visit there .... it was lovely and quiet. There were some renovation works going on but they seemed to work whilst we were out and about so we were not disturbed by it at all. The hotel did send us an email prior to our arrival to inform and apologise for the building work which was thoughtful of them to do so. The staff were lovely, polite and helpful and I would recommend staying here as it's 2 mins from the Spanish Steps, 15 mins walk to the Coliseum and 15 min walk to the Vatican City
Great Location, Poor Hygiene!!
Drew Bon 24/01/2017 20:37Domus Bocca Di Leone is centrally located, very close to the Spanish steps, and Spagna metro stop. Rooms are spacious. Hygiene however is an issue which bothered us greatly. As we walked in our non-smoking double room, there was a stench of cigarettes. Staff blamed the previous guests, saying it was not their fault, and claiming that the room was not aired for us not to feel cold. Room was well insulated and a.c. worked well, so this was not a good excuse. We had to endure 2 nights sleeping in that smell! Unfortunately, mattress too was uncomfortable, so barely ended up getting any sleep. Hair was found in the shower as soon as we entered, and although there was sufficient toiletry supplies, these were coated in dust.
Breakfast was prepared in the room, consisting of 2 prepacked croissants, 4 packets of mulino bianco biscuits as well as nutella and peach jam. Tea bags were also available, as well as an espresso machine, and 4 bottles of chilled water in the fridge ( 2 still and 2 sparkling).
Due to its price and location, this place could have been perfect. Staff can converse well in English, so that too is not an issue. The things that that they have overlooked, and their lack of action has, however, ensured that we will not consider this accomodation again.
Trusted and great service
Agrippina Bon 03/01/2017 10:30Wonderful location, located just a few steps from the luxury shopping area. I left my bag of laptop and they reported us and help us sending it to the next destination. The room was nice, but a bit noisy because the walls are thin especially when the room is on the most front side.
Excelent location, helpfull and excelent staff
Rui Con 27/12/2016 21:50Regarding Staff, Lodging and facilities it was a good experience with lot of quality. from there we could move around Rome easily as it is a center spot near from everything.
The breakfast was outside the hotel in a bakery in the neighboorwood and someway it was poor comparing with other European hotels.
Let down
TravellingCHon 15/09/2016 11:39We enjoyed the stay here to a point, I will list the pros and cons:
PROS:
- Very friendly and accommodating staff
- Very central to everything, right near the spanish steps
- Good wifi
- Comfy beds
- Good Air Con
- Hot water stopped working on our floor so they moved us down to a larger room with hot working water very quickly
CONS:
- Extremely noisy, woken up 7-8 times a night by the floor above
- Walls were so thin, could hear the people down the corrdior
- Noisy from outside where the cafe/bars are
- When moved to our new room the fridge had months old raw chicken left in the fridge which absolutely stunk
- Really needs a freshen up, dirty marks on wall, very run down
All in all it is ideal if you are staying in Rome and don't want to be at the hotel much. If you are super tired from walking, then hopefully you will sleep from the noise, but do not stay here if you are a light sleeper like myself. We were woke up all night by people coming back to theirs rooms and also 6am every morning from the floor above to sounded like they were moving in!!
The staff are helpful, you get a set of keys to enter yourself in and out of the building. Only problem is they are only there 8-12pm, so if something like the water goes down, you just had to live with it!
Breakfast was served at a time of your choice, juice and pastries each day. They spoke very good English which we didn't expect and we very much appreciated this.
Our original room was very small and cramped, but after being moved to the floor below, this was much more of an upgrade.
