What People are saying

Great stay!

Karla Gon 01/07/2016 08:28

We stayed 5 nights at this place. Everything was wonderful. We stayed in the 5th floor, in the orange room. It was spacious, had a big bathroom and a balcony.
Breakfast was good as well.
Distance to the metro station is very convenient (less than 5 minutes walking) and there is also a bus stop right around the corner. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and mini markets where you can buy all things you may need.
Marcello, the host, is very nice and helped us get a taxi for our early flight. By the way, there is a review saying his English was not very good and this person had a trouble with the taxi because he did not get the right amount when he was explained... the only thing I need to add is: if you use public transportation (like I did) you will realize taxis charge 48 euros for a trip to the airport (FCO) as they have this information written on the doors. Just imagine that from FCO to Roma Termini, I payed 14€ and after that we had to get to the metro in order to get to this place... so, again, I don't think there was a problem with the English here.
We had a wonderful time. I truly recommend this place.

It's All True

All the positive reviews and comments about the B&B are true! We stayed in the Orange Room. The room was spacious and clean, simply appointed, but had all that we needed and appreciated, including a large balcony. Not much of a view except the other apartments, but pleasant sitting out and leaving the balcony door open to receive the wonderful spring weather. The bathroom was spacious! Marcello, the owner lives on the property and is always around doing maintenance and asking how things are. He also gave us good tips on taking the bus to the Vatican or downtown, and arranging a taxi ride to the airport at a discounted price ($40 euros vs. $48). Breakfast had pastries, cereal, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice, bread, ham and cheese available. We were also served fresh omelets which were very good. We had cappucino every morning and it was delicious. Tip: Bring your own soap as shower gel packs and soap were very small. Also, bring your own washcloth or one of those nylon sponges. Take a taxi from metro station and give them address to put in their gps. There is no big sign and bldg is in a corner and has other businesses inside.

A warm place

We visited Rome 4 months ago with my boyfriend. Initially we expected to have a private apartment but rather we found a shared one with private bedrooms. Our bedroom had its own bathroom (brand new). Breakfast was served on the 5th flloor and there was also free wifi. Marcello is one of the kindest people I have ever met, really caring and hospitable. He prepared the breakfast every morning whereas he always made sure to make a hot coffee for us when we were there. Apart from that he was really willing to give us all the necessary information about the sight of the city and the must be places. I have to say that at first I was a little bit worried because the place is in an old block of flats with huge corridors but I was happily surprised by the kindness of his person. Hope we could have stayed more. Maybe next time!

Nice place, great food, convenient location, but above all ... wonderful host!

Marcello is a genuinely nice person. He truly cares about his guests, and will engage in long conversations to learn more about you, where you are from, (Toronto, in our case), what you like about Italy, etc. Sometimes one can feel that good service is only a means to get good reviews, but this is absolutely not the case with Marcello. He is truly a kind and generous man. Now about the hotel itself: The rooms are simple, but clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. There is a communal kitchen with fridge, stove, etc. and a fairly large communal dinning area, if you wish to prepare your own meals. The walk to the subway is only 5 minutes, with a direct rides to the Spanish Steps, etc. The breakfasts are great. Marcello is really good cook and his home-made pastries are fantastic. Just an wonderful experience overall. Warmly recommended!
PS: Can't remember if wifi was available in the room. Sorry.
PPS: There is a fantastic steak restaurant around the corner. If you are a meat lover, this is the best in Rome. You won't be disappointed. Just ask Marcello for directions.

Everything was perfect, except the ending

Wonderful little place in the middle of everything. It was very easy to get to anywhere, and the sweet Marcello was very helpful with any request you might have.. The room is more than enough for what you need in Rome, IF you're only planning on sightseeing and going out to eat. If you're looking for anything else, its an expensive hotel you need. Breakfast is very simple, and you really don't want to stuff yourself before a loooong walk ;) Loved everything about it, and i would definitely suggest this place for anyone who just wants to see Rome.
But with good comes the bad too, sadly.

Marcello's english is a biiiit too italian sometimes, not that it mattered most of the time, but it most
certainly did at an important time.. He says numbers like 40 as 14 (no mistaking).. I asked him, and even pointed at the number 14 on a piece of paper so there would be no misunderstanding, but when the driver we ordered (friends of Marcello aka airbus shuttle) dropped us off at the airport, he told us 40 euro....... So after having to run around the airport for a good 30 minutes looking for an ATM, coming back to the driver and saying "i can't find anything" no matter the information i've gotten from all the people i've asked (everybody giving different directions to nowhere)...... He tells me i can pay with a card..... So not only did i have to pay 40 euro, but we missed our flight. And that turned into 261 euro, for two new tickets, and 8 hours of waiting for another flight.

So if you talk to Marcello about numbers, write down the numbers, insist he checks it over and over again, so there's no misunderstanding. Because the unexpected 261 euro extra was not worth the trip.
