Decent place for price
Steven Bon 07/01/2017 08:43Reasonably quiet, clean and large room with separate lounge & balcony. Bathroom was ok but didn't use hot water as every time the water heater was switched on I got a slight shock from the shower taps. Staff were friendly and the bar/pool at the back of the building were a good place to have a quiet beer if the madness of anjuna ever got too much, wifi is only available when sat at poolside.
Friendly attentive staff in a lovely old building
John Gon 19/12/2016 11:30Not the height of luxury, but a very pleasant place to stay. A lovely old Portuguese style building. The staff are so nice and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool is clean and refreshing. If you really want to get a feel for what it's like to be in Goa, rather than being in a resort that could be anywhere in the world, I strongly recommend you stay here.
Not the best not the worst
Sinead Con 08/11/2016 04:19Not a bad place in goa. It has tv and a balcony but the sheets and towels are very dirty. We were there in off season so the pool was closed the whole time. The electricity often cut out but that was in the whole area. In comparison to where a lot of other people stayed don joao wasn't too bad and staff are nice
Grim and dirty
Andy Won 23/10/2016 10:38I have stayed at a fair few hotels in India and so aware that standards can really vary. However we arrived at 3am in the morning - staff on reception were unwelcoming and unfriendly, but it was the middle go the night. We were taken to our room on the 3rd floor - the sheets were stained, the room hadn't been cleaned and the walls were filthy. In the morning we also found the furniture was layered in dust and was falling apart, the bathroom was filthy, the fridge was mouldy and the bedroom overlooked a huge rubbish tip. Reassured by other reviewers similar experience on the site we went to reception and asked to move room - the receptionist was friendly and told us there were none available but to come back after 1pm and they would move us. Meanwhile they would clean the room. We came back later to find the room hadn't been touched and to be told by the same receptionist there were no other rooms and that all the rooms were the same standard anyway. We checked out immediately as we couldn't face another sleepless night in the room (also note that the bars right outside the hotel start playing music really loud from 2pm in the afternoon to the early hours). Be warned - we had paid for the 2 weeks through a travel company and the hotel refused to refund any money paid. It is a budget hotel so we didn't expect anything other that a basic room but basic doesn't have to mean filthy and grim - you can get so much better for the same price in Anjuna (we moved to a cheaper guesthouse just down the road for the next few nights - still a budget room but it was clean, clean bedding, the staff were friendly and helpful and a beautiful quiet location.
Must stay hotel for a budget traveller
brownsystemson 08/10/2015 15:30I have stayed at this hotel a million times because it just keeps on attracting me towards it whenever I visit Goa. The hotel is about 500 mtrs away from Anjuna Beach and 2 kms away from Vagator and about 5-6 kms away from Baga and Calangute beaches. The resort is extremely popular amongst Russians. All famous shacks like Liliput is nearby. You have room service with laundry and there are approximately 5 buildings with villa type accommodation. Beds are double sized with 2 rooms. European toilet. AC, TV with Cable, parking space. Two-wheelers and four-wheelers on rental basis, a large swimming pool. One day rent starts from $7 from off peak season, to $10 during mid-peak and about $15 during peak season. So, if you want to enjoy the silent, tranquility of the laid back life of Goa. this hotel is a must visit for sure.
P.S. The resort has a bar lounge with snacks facility by the swimming pool.
