Very comfortable rooms and beds...
They have a bar in the lobby very useful to close a business or just relax in the night... the hotel has also a very good location everything is close and if you need a taxi you can ask for one in the lobby and you will be picked up in 3-4 minutes, also have many restaurants and markets walking few steps

rico_chanon 08/08/2017 16:08My stay was not as satisfying as my experiences from other 4-start hotels. Breakfast gave ton of choices, but the cook-to-order guy was often away from his station. The garage was as narrow as other German under-ground garages, though the overnight use fee of it was reasonable. The room was adequate in size, but I could hear people talking in the hallway loud and clear. Since the hotel was under renovation, it would be nice if the hotel could give some incentives. The only 'wow' factor I can share was the in-room dining. I had a Dorint burger with chips (aka French fries) - probably the best meal I had in Mannheim.
If I come back to Mannheim, I will stay at the Raddison Blue. It is just around the corner from the Dorint.

Well located
Best breakfast selection in Mannheim in my experience, but salmon no longer offered. First class orange juice so 5 out of 5 on my orange juice score. Generally smart and well maintained. Comfortable room and bathroom.
The food at dinner is also quite good.
Service normally good.
The underground parking area is easier to manoeuvre in than some other local hotels.
Could improve
The reception and bar area are currently undergoing renovation so temporary arrangements are in place until September.
The towels are small and a bit thin.
First floor rooms can be very noisy if the are preparing a conference/ exhibition on floor two. Heavy furniture being dragged across the ceiling in the early hours of the morning is unacceptable in my view. Busy when concerts and exhibitions are on.

Better than average but not quite at very good
TheDonkeyCentreHalfon 21/07/2017 23:06I've given this a very good rating as it is much better than average but to be honest it is not quite at the very good level.
Since my last visit the hotel rooms have all been refurbished. At the time of writing, the rest of the refurbishments are still ongoing with reception temporarily on the second floor and the main bar undergoing a major refit.
All rooms now have air-conditioning which is very welcome in Mannheim during the summer. The rooms are nicely decorated and have a good sized safe which you can easily get a laptop into. It's a shame that there is no fridge in the room.
The bathrooms have a nice shower, shaving mirror and hairdryer. Everything is very clean and smart.
The wifi in the Dorint does seem hit and miss at the moment. In my room, I struggled to get connected on two of four devices tried (two work, two personal). Those I did get connected found that the performance was pretty slow at times. A colleague on a different floor had no such problems. Maybe this is affected by all the building works but a taxi driver said he had had quite a few customers saying that they had issues with the hotel wifi there.
Breakfast at the Dorint is excellent. Very good selection of hot and cold food and friendly egg chef. At the moment, it is a long walk to the ground floor breakfast room as you have to walk down to it from reception on floor 2 via the conference area. No idea how those with mobility issues get there. I can only assume you need to go out the front door and enter via the garden.
Since the opening of the Radisson Blu, it is noticeable that several business hotels are being refurbished. It will be interesting to try the Dorint again when the refurb is complete but at the moment, the Radisson Blu is the better hotel of the two.
