What People are saying
Quirky
bcsanderson 22/03/2017 11:41i stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel comfortable and pleasant but quirky. The room is quite large and well laid out. good working desk that faces towards the window but across the room, and i found this arrangement conducive to being productive. The TV is convenient to watch from the desk and from the bed. The free mini-bar was a nice surprise. The bathroom is too small and cramped, and the shower stall is too tiny. As I moved around in the shower, I would hit the tap and inadvertently change water pressure and temperature, resulting in unpleasant sensations.
The staff are polite and efficient. They wear a strange combination of black clothing and red suspenders, adding to what seems to be a deliberate effort to be quirky. The red light over the bed is an odd touch ("naughty" as I saw in another review of this hotel). The hotel is located near some restaurants and is convenient with respect to tram lines. My room was quiet. I am allergic to feathers and asked for the room to be feather-free. They had take feathers away from the bed, but the room wasn't properly cleaned: i was reacting to feather remnants the first 24 hours in the room.
We had a conference banquet at the hotel. The banquet room was beautiful - old style in a modern hotel. The food and service were great.
I would be happy to stay here again.
Good hotel (but not bathtub)
MapleLeafer007on 06/01/2017 23:29This is good hotel.
Interesting aspects include free mini-bar and free movies, and a slightly "naughty" (but harmless) vibe.
Check-in was strict. We arrived shortly before 1pm and was told that check-in was 2pm. We were however able to leave our luggage at the front and then wander and then come back later when the room was eventually ready. On the whole, staff were young and generally helpful.
The room is hardwood (or laminate with a hardwood pattern). Lots of room for luggage and other things.
Our room did not face the street so we did not hear too much street noise. There is no kettle in the room. There is a safe in the room. The windows opened wide in case you wanted to air out the room. Unfortunately we stayed over the weekend where there were events in the banquet halls each night and the noise was pretty loud. The good thing is that the windows have great sound insulation but that meant that it was a stuffy room so there are compromises you have to settle for if staying when a loud event is on at the banquet facilities at night.
The beds were nice but were slanted (they needed to be rotated more often/ diligently). The pillows were made of the foam bubble bits and were tolerable but not great.
Towels are nice and fluffy but not particularly thick. The soap and shampoo were dispensed through a tube. As indicated, there was no bathtub in the room.
Breakfast was very good and reasonable for the price (it was on the high side of reasonable), lots of choices and there were small changes every day in the cold selection side.
Location-wise, it is a 10-15 minute tram ride to and from Central Station, but the stop is right in front of the hotel so that is good. There is a grocery/convenience store next door so convenient for in-room dining if you want. The neighbourhood has large houses on some blocks and was quiet at times but felt completely safe.
The hotel operates under a key pass system. There are 2 spacious elevators to help you with your luggage.
I would recommend this hotel unless you need to be within the city centre, keeping in mind that the city center is an easy and short tram ride away.
Nice Stay - But can be better
Rita Kon 31/12/2016 11:16We stayed here for 4 nights to do sightseeing. It's a bit outside downtown but theres direct tram and bus to there so it's not a problem. Free minibar but I suggest if coffee/tea bags provided in winter would be event nicer. It was really nice of the hotel staff that we were able to rest in the room in the morning on our arrival day - I was sick. The slight down side was, housekeeping did not knock on door at all when they wanted to make the room, problem solved after we put on the do not disturb sign. Another thing was, even though we placed our used towels on toilet (instead of hanging), we didn't get them changed. The dirty towels would just been placed on the shelf afterwards, even being wet.
Sauna room was nice with the shower, if attention is paid to the empty shower gel bottles, it would even be nicer. (Been there twice, both times w/o shower gel…)
Staff speaks nice English and always have a friendly smile, I like it. Also it has really good value of money. The signs in room are quite funky
Amusingly kinky
Eileen193on 16/09/2016 09:38Outside the city centre but handy for the tram and station. Quiet. Contents of the fridge were FREE. Lovely spacious shower room. Bed must have been comfortable because I don't remember anything once the head hit the pillow. We were highly amused by the 'Nudists only' sign on the bathroom door, the red-light possibility etc - made the hotel memorable.
Very nice hotel
Rafael Pon 13/09/2016 15:24Great service, with free beverages (apple and orange juice, water and beer) and funny signs. I also enjoyed the restaurant, which serve simple but tasteful food.
Location is ok because it's close to a train station (easy connection to downtown and airport).
I stayed for a week in the studio room, that includes kitchen and living room. It was incredibly cheap, given the room and service.
I would definitely return.
