What People are saying

Absolute Perfection

Melissa Pon 15/07/2017 16:44

Another great stay at Dormy House! We love this place and our second sty was as memorable as our first! It was my birthday and we arrived in our room to a birthday card, handwritten "welcome back" and a bottle of champagne.
Again, the concierge and all of the staff were on their 'A' game and made us feel at home the instant we arrived!
We stayed in a cottage room (35) which was light and airy with mood lighting and a sense of instant relax.
We didn't have treatments in the spa this time but the fact that you can use the spa from midday on check-in day until midday on check-out day just maximises the service that Dormy House offers.
We had afternoon tea in The Garden Room and dinner in The Potting Shed - both were excellent!
Cannot wait for our next stay - thank you Dormy House Team!

Charming

My fiance and I stayed in Dormy house for one night on the way back from Cornwall to Norfolk. We've stayed in other places nearby previously and have visited the Farncombe estate for activities before. We had called in to Dormy house for directions and thought it was so inviting that we might try a visit.

The hotel is beautiful, really charming with its interior design; totally befitting of the Cotswold ethic. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, although on the snug side of life. There are a few beams which pose some head hazards for the taller folk - especially first thing in the morning as my fiance found out!

We ate at the Garden restaurant which was fantastic. The food was excellent. We went for the tasting menu and particularly enjoyed the wine flight that went with it largely because we weren't told what we were drinking. We were asked to taste without the food and with the food and comment on the pairing - this was a fantastic exercise which helps to reduce consumer bias and make sure one pays attention to the pairing.

Breakfast was ample, and the selection enormous.

The staff were very friendly and the whole place had a beautiful, relaxed feeling to it. I would be keen to visit it again.

Dormez vous at Dormy House?

We had heard good things about Dormy House and opted to stay en route back to London. It is an attractive hotel that creates a very pleasant first impression and the reception process works well to enhance this. We were greeted by Mervyn as we drove in and he was very amiable and friendly as he brought the bags to our room and showed us to the front desk.
In my original review, I said that for a number of cumulative reasons, our dining experiences were the least impressive aspect of the stay. Having exchanged my views with the hotel manager and (unusually), having them accepted without any excuse or explanation at to why I might have been wrong, I am happy to edit the review and assign a better rating (but you can't undo a first impression).
Check in was pleasant and efficient.
Our room was comfortable and well stocked (though I had not asked for an 'accessible' bathroom). The pool and steam room/saunas were first class. The dining room with the view of the garden was very attractive. I'm told that change is expected in this department before the end of the month.

My wifes 40th birthday treat.

We had an amazing stay at Dormy House, from the first minute to the last we had a fabulous experience and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Its not cheap but certainly value for money with some good package deals to be had. Even though we didn't want to leave, the short stay we had was very special and left feeling relaxed. Thanks to all the staff who were brilliant and made the stay that extra bit perfect.

Fantastic

Having stayed in many many hotels all over the world , the bar has been raised following my visit. The facilities are absolutely top class with a wonderful restaurant, however what sets it apart from all else are the staff. Absolutely everything and I mean everything is thought of on advance. I couldn't think of not even an advisory comment as everything was so good. A true 5star experience. I would also like to mention that I have young kids and they were allocated 2 time periods in the pool which is excellent as it's fair on everyone as I appreciate some people don't want kids near them, there is also a room for kids to play in. Like I said everything is looked after.
