Had a fantastic overnight stay in the stunningly beautiful Dowfold House; Jill & Rupert were so friendly and accommodating hosts; they welcomed us with (proper) tea and cakes and provided valuable local knowledge to help us select a dinner venue... The Pink Room was well appointed and very comfortable and, overall, the house interior was impeccably maintained and provided a 'very nice feel' throughout our stay... thoroughly and unreservedly recommended.. Dowfold House B d and Breakfast is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are always immaculate and the breakfast prepares you for the day. I would recommend a visit. 5 star! I really enjoy the approach taken here and always check availability 1st when looking for a place to stay.

Safe harbour at last

I took my daughter up for an open day at Durham University, and we booked into Dowfold for the night before. We had the most horrendous journey, and I would give Dowfold 5 stars simply for the good grace with which Jill and Rupert accepted our ever later anticipated time of arrival (we eventually got there at half past midnight!!). However, there is a lot more to this place than the owners just being lovely people. The rooms were generous, and the beds had some of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever encountered in B&Bdom. It was spotlessly clean. There were all sorts of interesting books, as well as guides to local activities and so forth. We awoke the following morning to find a blanket of snow had descended overnight - it was bleak but very beautiful. An outstanding breakfast, the high point of which was their own apple juice, which was tart and highly refreshing. And then we were gone. It was very good value, and I wish we could have spent more time there. Thank you so much for looking after us so well.

Delight near Durham

We booked last minute to soften a 300 mile trip for a 1 day meeting. We selected the venue based on other reviews - they are 100% accurate - it and the owners and both fabulous - the room - Pink - was perfect in every way, cosy, spacious, fabulous bathroom ( underfloor heating in the bathroom no less ) and all the little touches included. A five star breakfast was very welcome. Thank you so much - what an amazing place !

What a wonderful welcoming place to stay.
The house and rooms are wonderful,
exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished and attention to detail and extra touches are lovely.
The owners are kind, knowledgeable and extremely welcoming.
The breakfast provided is absolutely delicious and plentiful in variety.
I would definitely recommend anyone considering staying here to do so.
You will not be disappointed!
