I was only in Portland for 3 days and wanted a reasonable priced room - in or walking distance to downtown, with 2 beds and a private bathroom, which this hotel offered. No doubt did I book this place once I saw that it had everything I wanted :)
Since I do not live in the States, every time I travel there I always order things online and checked with the hotel in advance if they can keep my packages (if they arrive earlier than I do) till I check-in. They weren't responsive to my e-mails, but I was able to reach them from the hotel.com messaging function with ease. Molly even gave me daily update about the arrival of my packages.
Front desk was very friendly and helpful, which I'm very grateful of :)
Hotel is located close to the streetcar station - which I didn't use since it's a 20-30 walking distance from downtown Portland! I enjoyed the stroll to downtown, even walked back to the hotel at 1am in the morning alone since the route didn't feel like it was unsafe to do so.
Hotel doesn't have an elevator so if you have a lot of luggage you'll need to use the stairs... staircase is quite wide and its not too much of a flight up.
Luggage storage is US$5.00/day/room.
If I have a chance coming back to Portland, will definitely choose to stay here again.

路面電車（ストリートカー）の駅の目の前？かと思います（ダウンタウン徒歩圏内のため1度も利用しませんでした）。
荷物の一時保管は各部屋（荷物の個数や大きさ関係なく）5ドルで保管してくれます。
ホテルのe-mailは誰も返信してくれませんｗ電話をするか、expedia等のホテル総合予約サイトで予約したなら、メッセージ機能がついていればそちらから連絡すると、すぐに連絡が付きました。ちなみに私はhotels.comのメッセージ機能を使用しました。
チェックイン前にホテルへたくさんの荷物を送ったのですが、快くただで荷物を受け取り、チェックインまで保管してくれました。
エレベーターがないホテルなので、階段を利用します。階段はそこまで長くありません。また、階段の幅は広いです。
部屋も広いです。部屋にはテレビ、レンジと冷蔵庫があります。シャンプーはあったが、リンスがなかった気がします。
とにかくこの価格、立地、フレンドリーなスタッフ（一人ちょっと無愛想な方がいますが、実際は優しかったです）文句なしです！

Good spot in a walkable city

Nothing fancy but really clean and decent sized rooms. Feels a bit like dorm accommodation. Is right at the bottom of the downtown area but Portland is so infinitely walkable so you'll easily be able to get to a lot of the city on foot, plus it's quiet at night. Nice and safe too with a lot of students in the area due to the university. Public transport stops nearby which will take you through downtown or right to the airport. Nice staff on the desk too.

Be prepared to be interrogated and made to feel cheap

I made a reservation for 3 guests for 3 nights. The room was ok. There were 2 beds in a very small room. There were only 2 towels and one bar of soap and shampoo. Anything we needed we had to go to the front desk to ask for it. I asked for a towel and the owner seemed reluctant, but he then said he now remembers that my room has 3 guests and it's for 3 nights and then hands me an extra towel. You would think that because he made it a point to emphasize that, that he'd remember to make note we'd need 3 towels in our room everyday. Maid service never replaced the soap, shampoo, or toilet paper. Every night we had to ask for a 3rd towel from the front desk. I can't imagine what would happen if we actually needed an extra towel. Some days only one bed was made and the other was not.

My cousin also booked a room for one night. His single bed room was about the same price and 2.5 times bigger than my room, which didn't make sense. There was a pull-out sofa bed, a study room, and the bathroom was bigger. This room could have easily fit 5 guests... Perhaps if anyone books, it's better to book the 1 kingsize bed option.

Upon checking out, we had stopped by his room to help carry his luggage. The owner saw all of us leave his room in the morning, stopped my cousin, and questioned how many people stayed in his room last night....

The Downtown Value Inn will surely make you feel like it's a value stay. Don't expect anything beyond a place to sleep at night and the bare necessities. If you do decide to book this hotel, book directly with them to avoid 3rd party fees.

They cancelled my booking because I was over 30!

I booked this place online.
However, when I arrived, they checked my ID and they refused me that because I was over 30 yo....

I have been travelling so many times, but it was the first experience to be denied just because of the age.

They should have clearly said it before hand... otherwise, so many people will have problem in the middle of nowhere.

A 5 for the price and location. The Laughing Planet has good food and brew. Portlandia the statue from the movie is on 5th street. The Morrison Bridge I found out gets to the freeways. The Portland State University is across the street. Lots of Star Bucks , beer and pizza.
