The hotel is more like a hostel without any supervision. First of all you need to pick up your keys in a different establishment across the road. The rooms are average, nothing special, but for the price it wasn't bad. (20 euros a day split between 4 people! I mean cmon it's very affordable) I certainly wasn't expecting anything over the top. Now the issues start with disgusting old and smelly bathrooms and a yellowish water that leaves a horrid taste in your mouth if you dare to flush your mouth with it. The bathrooms left a mark on my psyche, it was a challenge but we did not give up;)The hotel is fine for people who party a lot, can deal with unsanitary conditions and just use the hotel to get few hours of sleep.
We initially booked this location on the internet, stating that it is close to the airport. This was our first mistake. It took about 1 hour to reach the place, discovering it in a location where bars are on street level and the accommodation are starting on the first floor. Arriving on site after quite some effort on finding the entrance we discovered that it is a crash site for Berlitz language students. The room itself was quite large, but stuffed in it were four beds which took the most space away. The bathroom was a nightmare, Toilet seat loose, hanging on one screw, Shower didn't work at all, big water tank hanging over the toilet, Obviously there was no soap or decent towels. The TV on the wall did work, however with no picture as there was no antenna or cable to it. The fridge was old and had seen better days but it actually cooled the drinks down. The advertised kitchenette was one worktop with a microwave. Back to the beds, the mattresses were old and the springs came out. But the biggest problem was the noise when the bars and bistros opened at night. Ther was actually a place about 100 feet away which had the bass so loud that the gasses in our room vibrated. Gladly this noise stopped during the week, and was only Sat and Sun. This place was obviously only for students planned. There was no room service and the garbage was left on the landings. Honestly, even if you travel on a budget, don't waste your money on this place. Try to find a place on the outskirts, not in St Julian. Its a party place. Furniture were 4 beds, one round table, one chair, one wardrobe, all very much used up. I won't come here again.
Poor quality room. No soap was provided. Towels were very small. Furniture lousy. Very odd corridors to rooms that go zig zag and makes it difficult to locate the room. No restaurant. Overall a very poor experience. However, location is good and nearby shops and eateries are plenty.
Due to reviews that i read on here i was not looking forward to our stay here one bit! But it was surprisingly better than expected, it was not the ritz but it was perfect for what we wanted (just to lay our heads) it was a prime location but very loud due to the night clubs, the apartment was very basic but met our needs all in all not as bad as what i was expecting and i was relieved that it wasn't as what i was expecting to see.
Stayed here for a quick sleepover with friends before heading to the airport.
Price was crazy cheap - €9 per person but upon arriving, we all understood why.
The lift has a massive spitmark on the mirror, reception is on the 4th floor, the lady did. It even bother to stand up and more worryingly no details were taken.
This said, at night there is no security and the main door stays wide open. Wow, we felt very safe(not!)
The apartments were a hit and miss. The one allocated to me was a tiny tiny studio and my friends got a fairly big one with 4 beds (we both booked for 2 ppl), so we all ofcourse ended up staying together in the bigger one.
Room was fairly clean and basic but a lot of maintenance issues - blocked sink, no shower hook or curtains so the bathroom was flooding after all 4 of had a shower, balcony door barely opens (need to use force), thick layer of dust on the fan, the apartment door had punches inside and out.
Building itself is like a labyrinth, to reach our apartment we felt like we were going round and round in circles (good luck if you are coming back after a night out in PV)
So, overall, yes, for the price you get the crap u deserve but from the safety perspective, I would pay more and stay somewhere else.
