Very Nice and Very Friendly
WilloVleeron 26/10/2012 14:28If you want a quiet holiday and/or a good place from where you can start your trips through the northwest of Crete, Drapania Beach Apartments is the place to be.
We just stayed for a couple of days and then had to move on, but we sure will come back one day. The Marinakis family are incredibly friendly and helpful. Stella tries very hard to speak English well and where she does not really succeed her son Manolis jumps in effortlessly. A little secret: he did set up a museum by his own. From profession he is archaeologist and he paints beautiful icons. If you ask him he will show it to you with restrained pride.
It is possible to enjoy breakfast every morning.
There is no swimmingpool. But hey, there is a very large one just on the other side of the road.
For the kids there is a small pool and there is also a jacuzzi.
From the apartment to the main road: 650 m. Walking along the beach to Kissamos: 5 km.
There is a gas station on the road to Kissamos: 3 km. About a bus stop we are not sure.
Furthermore: nothing but praise for this lovely spot!
Apartment next to your "own" beach
Trond Ron 21/08/2012 21:44We stayed one week at the Marinakis family's small hotel on the beach in Drapanias. Our first floor apartment (one room with kitchenette) was nice and clean, with an excellent wifi connection, and with a splendid sea view from our balcony (they also offer apartments facing south, towards the mountains). And the best of all: just pick up a sunbed and parasol from the pool area and walk across the road and you find yourself in the middle of a four kilometer long pebble and sand beach. And you have it almost for yourself, even in august. There are a few tavernas further down the beach, and a small shop. The Marinakis family running the place is very kind and helpfull (the son Manolis speaks english well). This is the place for those who really want to get away from the hoards.
