What People are saying

Cute rustic getaway

We weren't sure what to expect from this place at first but it was an amazing experience, very different from staying in an everyday hotel and totally worth it.

The staff are incredibly friendly and always ready to help. Eduard at the front desk was a pleasure to chat with and even gave us a lesson on a new favourite wine we picked up and how to use a different styled corkscrew we bought.

The room is very spacious. There were 3 of us travelling together so we got a room with a queen bed and a little bedroom attached to it with a single bed. Both beds were very comfortable. The decor is very quaint and goes well with the style of the chateau and really sets the ambiance. The bathroom is also very spacious and the only issue we had was with the shower. The bathroom had a tub with a handle held shower head but no shower curtains so we had to be very careful while taking a shower to avoid having water splashed all over the floor.

Wifi is only available in one of the upstairs dining areas that is generally not in use, and in the lobby of the hotel. This wasn't too much of an issue as we were out for most of the day and actually spent the evening chatting with each other and relaxing in the room instead of being tied up with technology. There is also a cute little chapel at the end of the hallway on the first floor, it's small but a nice quiet place to sit and reflect.

We had dinner at the Chateau's restaurant one evening and it was delicious. Everything was cooked well and with a lot of flavour. This was where we had asked Eduard to recommend a wine and fell in love with the Vouvray he recommended.

All in all this was a great experience, and a beautiful chateau to spend a couple of nights in.

Amazing place, great restaurant, great staff!

One of the nicest places I have stayed at. All the staff were friendly and amazing. The food was superb and the wine recommendation was amazing. The rooms were quiet and kept with the entire atmosphere of a chateau with a ton of history. There is a charming little chapel on site. WiFi is limited but again it helps keep to the atmosphere of calm serenity at the Chateau.

Historic chateau

The Chateau looks amazing and is a gorgeous old chateau reworked to fit accommodation in. You need to accept the quirks at face value and enjoy the experience. We stayed in a room on the top floor and the bathroom was in the round turret top which was unique and fun. The room was basic and okay but we had a number of broken slate floor tiles to walk on. No wifi in room but it was available in reception. I stood with my laptop on the window of my room that overlooked the courtyard and reception and could receive the wifi signal. The buffet breakfast was okay. Overall it is an interesting place to stay and if you appreciate the style of building then you can embrace its features and enjoy the stay

Excellent

Lovely Historic Property

We spent two nights at Chateau de Chissay in September. It was a unique experience to stay in such a historic property. If you are a history buff (as I am), you'll enjoy and appreciate the sense of the past that you feel here. We traveled with another couple, and we reserved a superior room, while they reserved a superior apartment, yet our two rooms were identical (except for the furniture), with our room one floor directly beneath theirs. The rooms are large, with high ceilings and wonderful windows with lovely old handles, etc. You feel that you are staying in a castle. The beds and linens were nice, and the bathrooms were great. The rooms were clean but perhaps a bit worn. I think a bit more decoration (wall hangings, etc) would make the rooms feel more comfortable. The hotel does not have internet or televisions in the rooms, which has its benefits and its drawbacks. I think offering one or the other would also make the rooms feel more comfortable. I thought the stairwells and hallways were a bit neglected. We ate one night at the restaurant, which was very good, and breakfasts were fine. I felt the hotel was perhaps a little over priced, but overall we were satisfied and enjoyed our stay.
