BEDBUG INFESTATION and cursing manager
MikaylaC91on 23/10/2016 11:48My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for a weekend trip to Montreal this august. We wanted a hotel in the city near to a parking garage. I always check reviews about hotels before booking them and Hotel du manoir st denis seemed like a good, affordable "hotel" located right in the heart of Montreal. Two days prior to our trip I read new concerning reviews about problems with bed bugs at the hotel here on tripadvisor. I was devastated because we had looked forward to this trip for a long time and it was too late to cancel the reservation. We decided to go on with our trip and not let the hotel ruin it drive up (from Massachusetts) and check out the hotel anyway. On our trip we researched everything about bed bugs, what they looked like and where to find them. When we arrived at the hotel we met a very friendly man at the front desk. We decided to tell him straight away about the reviews that we read online and asked him what the hotel have done to fix it. He replied by saying that "the rooms are being cleaned every day" and that if we found something in the room we could come back down to the front desk. We checked in and went up to our room and within one minute we found them. There were bugs, eggs and shells in a crack of the sheets on the side of the bed. So within a minute after checking in to the hotel we went downstairs and said that we found bed bugs and that we wanted to leave the hotel. The man at the front desk wanted to us to show him so we went back upstairs and took pictures of it. We told the man that its against canadian law for hotels to let guests stay in rooms with bed bugs. We also told him that its not just about finding bugs in a room or being bit by them but its the fact that guests can bring the bugs back to their own home through their belongings and clothing. Cleaning the room every day doesn't make bed bugs go away!!! At this point the man was really helpful and apologetic and said that he was going to call his boss which we think was the owner of the hotel. Downstairs at the front desk I heard the man talk to his boss and he told him that we had "found the bugs". This obviously proves that both of them were aware of that there are bugs in the rooms and stil they are letting people stay in the rooms. When the man hung up the phone he told us that they would give us a refund the next day because he had only worked at the hotel for a couple of days and didn't know how to make a refund through their system. We told him at we wanted some sort of receipt that would confirm that we would get the refund in case we decided to leave Montreal the next day (We didnt want to drive back to the US and have a problem with the refund). The man wrote down his information and we started to take pictures of the booking papers. During all of this the phone kept ringing at the front desk. It was the boss calling and asking what we were taking pictures of. He was watching us from a security camera. The guy at the front desk told him that we wanted to take pictures because we wanted a confirmation of our refund. After talking on the phone for a while the guy then handed the phone to my boyfriend and said that his boss wanted to speak to him. The guy on the phone, the owner of the hotel, screamed and cursed at my boyfriend saying "You will get your refund what more do you want?". My boyfriend calmly said we wanted a confirmation of our refund and that this is no way of speaking to a customer. The man on the phone kept screaming at him saying "Its a two way street" that we want our money back and he want happy customers. He screamed so loud that I could hear everything standing next to him. After hanging up the guy at the front desk apologized countless of times saying that "that is the way he talks".
We ended up getting our refund back but this was a horrible experience and ruined our trip to montreal. We had to search for another hotel late at night and then we left montreal and canada the next day because we were so let down. Ive never seen a more horrible management who curses at my boyfriend at a HOTEL and I feel sorry for the guy working there who were really nice to us. Again its illegal for hotels to let people stay in rooms where there is bed bugs. This is a complete rundown place and Im advising everyone to never stay there.
BED BUGS ; STAY AWAY
11Worldtraveller1950on 10/10/2016 17:36Stayed in hotel du Manoir St Denis for 4 nights end of September. My husband found a bed bug on his pillow which explained why his head was so itchy. The pillow and bedbug were shown to the person in reception whose comment was my husband didn't smile! They gave us a different room for our last night, but the damage was done; the next day my husband was covered in bites and soon after that I suffered the same fate. Back in the UK now we are still itching and scratching. My husband sent a couple of emails to the hotel together with a picture of the bites. The hotel has not had the courtesy to reply. It is really bad customer care; since we got back we have realised other customers have suffered from a similar bed bug saga and lack of response from the hotel. It's in a good location but my advice is to stay away!
Bed Bugs are here
Mark Son 10/10/2016 16:24Don't go to this hotel you will get bitten excessively by bed bugs particularly in room 30.
I killed one on my pillow which exploded blood (mine I presume) and showed it to the man on reception. He moved us to room 38. We maybe got no more bites in that room but as they take a few days to materialise I cant be sure if subsequent itchy red lumps were from days 1-3 or day 4. My wife didn't start experiencing her itchy red lumps until 2 days after me. The grief lasts at least a week. We had to by hydrcortisone cream from the pharmacy.
When I asked for a refund by email I get no response.
BED BUGS....!!!! HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT... STAY AWAY!!!!!
IrishSheaEyeson 04/08/2016 19:32My daughter and her boyfriend stayed at this disgusting hotel this past weekend, while they were attending the music festival Osheaga. She noticed bites the second morning, at first thinking perhaps she got bitten at the festival. When she woke up the next morning COVERED in bites, she looked in the bed and found the bugs.
All they would tell her at the front desk was ""sorry, I will take care of that, thank you".
They had to throw out all their things that could not be washed in over 118 degrees... including their suitcases. They had to buy new clothes to wear after they showered some place else.
She booked the hotel through Booking.com and they have been trying to deal with this, but no one from the hotel has called Booking back.
I just called the hotel, asked for the manager's name (before I explained why I am calling) and the man who answered tried to tell me he doesn't know the manager's name. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Then he asked for my name and said to me "why should I give you the manager's name without knowing who you are?"
SERIOUSLY??? You are in the hospitality business.
If I don't hear back from them, with a full refund to my daughter, by next week... they will hear from my lawyer.
Stay away from this place!!!
Bed bugs (I never write reviews but please save yourselves)
Guilherme Lon 13/07/2016 06:36This hotel has a bed bug infestation. I Found some bites along my thumb, waist and forearms consistent with what I experienced before with bed bugs. I only realized on the drive home... praying I didn't bring any back. Have delt with this before and I know it's a nightmare.
