Having just read the terrible review by the couple with the kettle issue I wonder if they went to the same resort or hotel ???
They say the staff are unhelpful.
I completely disagree with that comment. I have now stayed in the hotel four times and find the staff especially the reception staff most helpful.They the go on to criticise the resort ??
Yes it's not the prettiest of places but no bars or restaurants only burgers and chips - these people need to open there eyes .
Lots of excellent restaurants and bars.
I am booking again for this year

Hotel where you will certainly rest

Dunamar is really quiet hotel where you will certainly rest.
Hotel have great location. It situated near beach, center of town and Spanish border, so you have near everywhere.
The food is good.I had only breakfast, but when I oversleep I could ate some snacks or lunch in hotel bar. If you want to eat fresh fish or dinner I recommend a bar in the way to beach or red one ( this two bars understand better English, because in other bars always when we order potato, they gave us chips) but if you don’t want to eat on the beach I recommend you evening in San Antonio (taxi 8min, walk 1h) a pretty town with many restaurants, but best are near the port or if someone love pancakes you must visit „NUTTY” -small bar with pancakes, creeps, churros etc. in center of town. You can’t leave without eat Portuguese sardines,
Great apartment for family with teenager. On balcony you have beautiful view for swimming pool and big beach, but it was very hard to have Wi-fi connection in our room, so we had to use it in hall.
Evening attractions were the same- singer singing Spanish song or performance with animal( for children), but cocktail bar( the place where were attractions) was great. Good staff, comfortable seats and long open ( to 1 a.m). If you want other attraction you might go to center for dancing with Portuguese music.

Best Hotel to relax at in the Algarve

Just come back from a week at the Dunamar, Totally relaxed and recharged now. Hotel is spotless, Staff are more like friends than staff, all extremely polite and willing to help with anything. Had a sea view second floor room, just outstanding, 2 bedrooms, 1 en-suite and 1 other bathroom, lovely spacious lounge, and kitchen, and a superb balcony overlooking the awesome vista of the Monte Gordo sea front and beach. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, will definitely be the first on my list if we check out to go away again next year. Breakfast has lots of choice and the sitting room is lovely and spacious. Had a chicken salad with Yoghurt dressing at the poolside bar, one of the best meals I had whilst away, I did not have an evening meal there though, but the menu looked very good. The pool itself is superb, shallow end for the younger swimmer and the deep end goes to about 1.5metres, so the taller swimmer can still touch the floor at this point as well, but you can swim properly. If you have children or just want a lovely relaxing break, the Hotel Dunamar is the place to seek. Would give it 11 out of 10 if I could.

Just come back from here, what a beautiful hotel/apartments my room was very big 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms, lounge, small kitchen, balcony over looking the pool, very clean and tidy hotel, only stayed b&b so cant really comment on the food in the day time but breakfast was very good lots to choose from,staff very good, all in all we had a fabulous time that why it gets 5 stars from me, it sitting on the beach, with a very good beach bar behind the hotel, sea food is there speciality.

a pleasant relaxing week at the beach

We had a 1 bed apartment, land view, on the second floor it was fine, spacious and clean and well equipped, a small kettle for making tea would have helped but boiling water in a pan worked fine.The hotel facilities were very good, lovely pool, gym, games room and no shortage of sun beds around the pool. The biggest asset was the wonderfulgolden beach streching to the horizon in each direction and just a step outside the rear exit of the hotel.The town was not too exciting being a liitle run down but plenty of street bars/cafes/restaurants well worth wandering round.
