First summer holiday and it didnt disappoint.

Stayed here for 7 nights in may 2017 with family and partner. our room was huge and suited us perfectly as we had a small kid with us. we had a kitchen , big bathroom , living room area and bedroom . Also the room had a balcony which was great for the mornings and evenings relaxing. the pool is big and it wasnt crowded , there was a nice chilled atmosphere which we were looking for.,
its situated close to everything which helped and we felt safe walking home in the evenings . the beach is a short walk and there is a bike rental shop just down the road.

Just returned from a fabulous holiday in Alvor . Dunas do Alvor is a great location to explore Alvor town and beaches . The apartment was a bit dated and in need of a bit TLC . Reading reviews and speaking with other visitors on the complex some apartments have been renovated and are run by a different company so possibly book with them next time . However good points include great pool area with very reasonable priced bars and cafe underneath with great service . The apartment was a good size however only cleaned once and towels changed once in a week. I used the launderette below again reasonably priced to clean the towels and sheets but not something I have ever had to do before on holiday . Overall though Alvor itself the beaches and food especially Gastro Bar 13 and location of apartments made for an amazing holiday and would definatley return to Alvor .

Stayed at the Dunas do Alvor apartments during the first week of July with my wife and daughter. We had a one bedroom apartment with my wife and daughter sharing the bedroom whilst I had the lounge to myself. The apartment is well equipped with a fridge, cooker, microwave , television, safe ,kettle and toaster. The only down point was that there was no air conditioning and the room got a little hot. My wife and daughter however had a large stand up fan for their comfort and I slept with the balcony door open, which was safe as we were on a first floor. The apartment is very clean spacious and tidy and has a decent bath with shower. The town centre and the beautiful beach are both about 10 minutes away and easily accessible. The apartment also have a very good private pool with numerous sunbeds which has an electronic gate pass. There are
bars, cafes and restaurants in close proximity. We particularly like the Chill out bar which serves good lunches (toasties and burgers etc) at a very good price. This bar also sells San MIguel beer at a Euro for a large one. We went to this bar on a previous visit in 2008 and the beer price hasn't changed!
We used the Dunas apartments on our previous visit in 2008, and are glad to say that they still represent great value.
The lack of air con is the only reason that I have scored the Dunas as 4 and not 5. I would definitely use these apartments again.

This place could be so much more, just a few little things-
Cleaner came on day 5, clean towels provided.. however the small things..
didn't empty bins
no toilet roll left so had to buy some?!?!

No air con.. which was terrible as temperatures were 85+ .
Room was like a sauna!! My partner slept with a towel!!

Lovely big 1 bed apartment with washing machine, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer..however had to sleep in lounge on pull out bed so could access fan to 'cool down' as no plugs near to bed in bedroom

Small changes could make this place so much better/more comfortable

We love this place for several reasons and yet we seem to have been let down yet again. Its such a shame as it just needs "Somebody to love....the apartment and make sure it is well maintained. When we arrived last year March 2016 we found a closed door as you can read from our last review and this time we thought oops you did it again,,,but with a bit of wandering we found that the reception has moved around the corner and Torralvor have moved into the main reception. We waited but not for too long and Ed appeared, telling us some story about a note being left on the original reception stating that they had moved but people keep pinching it?
Well we booked in and there was not alot of warmth and hospitality coming from Ed. He showed us to our apartment, telling us before we got there that it was a great apartment and had been recently refurbished this year? Oh yeh? Wait till you see for yourself. The shutters were closed up and it didnt seem to feel that we were expected and that we were just given any old apartment that was free.That's how we felt anyway.

He gave us the keys for the main door and our apartment and a safe key and we settled in only to find that .
1) Drawers in the kitchen area were broken and in need of repair.
2) The fridge had seen better days with black stains and rust all around it.
3) The headboards in the bedroom were loose and not even attached to the wall never mind the bed and everytime you sat up in bed the bed slid from underneath you. Dangerous?
4) The cupboard in the bathroom was rotting away and falling apart and the toilet has a distinct strange way of flushing and constantly runs afterward unless you get the technique right.
5) The bedroom window didnt lock and I know that we didnt expect anyone to bungee over the balcony and come in but that's not the point.
...
We had a list and we gave this to Ed as he did say on arrival any issues and come see him. He seemed surprised....and if this apartment was refurbed this year then maybe they should change the people who did the work? He did one repair and just rearranged the drawers to use the one that did work for the top drawer(he did say his maintenance man was off sick and did it himself...

However we didnt let this spoil our holiday and worked with what we had.

This complex is Fantastically located with a shop and several bars and eateries right on the doorstep and private pool, laundry and close to town and the supermarket, beach, and harbour...I could go on with a long list of postive things to say about this place however check the photos from last March and this years and see if you can spot the difference. NO prize though.

Come on guys .."Gimme, gimme , gimme what we paid for and "Take a Chance and CARE about the people who stay there!!!
