Smelly and dirty.

Location great. Breakfast not so, kipper was over cooked and poached eggs were hard!
Room, paper peeling off the walls, mould in shower and on window, window very dirty. Room smelled musty. Bed too small and springs broken on one side. The sofa was a health hazard. It stank of urine, had old food crumbs under the cushions as well as Christmas confetti. Our stay was August 12 2017. Free WiFi only in car park, does not work in rooms. Parking was good though and hotel had some really lovely period features, just a shame it was so tired and dirty. On a positive note, the towels were nice.

Enjoyed our 5 day stay in August. Excellant all round satisfaction with service and food, worth the 10and a half hour journey from Manchester but a lovely welcome and dinner waiting for us. A BIG thank-you.

Fawlty Towers!

Well this is a first for me! Never left a poor review before! On entering the Hotel the first thing you notice is a musty old smell! And then the decor hits you! It's like going back in time!
I would strongly suggest that if you are younger than 40 you should avoid this hotel. It's main clientele is the over 60's. Myself and my boyfriend arrived at the Hotel about 10.30pm and it was very quiet! The barman was very kind and helpful, although the bar is not manned the whole time. We asked what entertainment was on the next night to be told bingo and Kenny Rogers tribute thing! From this information we decided to venture out!
On the plus side the room was clean and can't fault the cleanliness . We decided to opt for the Superior room with Spa Bath. This is NOT worth the money we paid! The Spa Bath worked lovely but unfortunately we were unable to empty the water as the plug was broken. The four poster bed looked lovely but it was a cheap imitation bed and was very squeeky and the posts were wonky!
The mattress was comfortable though. Breakfast was between 7.30am and 9.30am. The breakfast was actually quite nice, cooked to order with continental option on a table. The only thing is the portion size. Could have been a bit bigger.
Whilst sitting having a drink several complaints were coming in. The chap at the reception was not dealing with them at all well. One couple asked for a discount due to faults in their room but the Hotel declined and they had to leave and find another Hotel.
In summary it definitely reminds me of Fawlty Towers! It is over priced! It definitely needs refurbishing. The Hotel is only geared up for the older person. 60+.
Rooms were clean and breakfast was nice.

nice spacious rooms, clean and comfortable, good beds, great food top class service very friendly and helpfull staff a good location easy to find plenty of parking space close to the beach and the town centre a lovely town to go shopping and explore the coutryside.

Good weekend stay

We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely stay. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Dinner on Friday night was excellent and the service top class even though it was very busy. Had a very professional pedicure in the Spa and the room was good again, couldn't fault it for cleanliness. Good job Durrant!
