Watch out for that shower

richardsO5135AGon 07/07/2017 19:59

Arrival was smooth and efficient. Pet friendly but bring your own disposal bags. Went out early and late to avoid the golfers as my dog is way too friendly. On day of arrival he wants to join a foursome on the green. Fortunately golfers were good natured and sent him back to me.

Food at the main area for hotel check in was minimal, but there were several listed which we did not try electing to eat in Redmond which is ten minute drive. There is a pool, golf, spa, etc which we did not try. This is a combo, hotel, condo rental and owned with a conference center. Thus a bit more conducive for business meetings (don't know for how big or small)

One major issue is their tub shower set up. There is a single hand rail as u enter the shower from the back of the tub. Combining the slope of the tub and the lack of adequate rinsing of the cleaning agent, my wife slipped and fell. Thank goodness I was in the room to help her up as she did hit her head.

The response from the desk when my wife asked for an anti slip matter was rather "oh well".. The young lady indicated that she would have housekeeping place one in the room. Well, you guessed it, no anti slip Matt. Front desk response was we don't stock/have theses. " you can place a Owen in the shower and we'll give us another towel" yikes. I guess a good temp solution but not having or providing anti slip matts; must be no fault insurance in Oregon.

Caution is strongly warranted as this hotel doesn't seem to have concern for customer safety.

Asked for a 1300 hour check which had to be approved by housekeeping versus management or the front desk due to lack of staffing (interesting).

The grounds are beautifully green and lush as it is adjacent to the golf course. It is a multi housing units complex. There are at least three large units and again lots to do. Now there may be fees associated with these activities so check prior. Brochures did not have prices.

Of one there is laundry facilities on site ($1.25 wash and $1.00 for dry with soap comp from the front desk) two washers and one driver. Of note there is only a single shared computer near the front desk and thus there is not a business center. Yet there is a conference center complex across the road. Hmmmmm. One person was on the computer for several hours. finally I asked when he would be done so I didn't waste time coming back and forth, and he indicated he was done. Get another computer or two for a business center.

Perfect, Packed, Family Getaway!

jomama1234567892017on 04/07/2017 22:33

Our family of four had a great time! My husband golfed, I spa'd, and we all swam a ton! We stayed in the lodge, in a king suite, and it fit our family perfectly. We enjoyed the Aerie Cafe a lot and appreciated that kids ate free! The front desk clerks at the lodge were very friendly and helpful. The Cafe staff was super. The spa experience was great as well, and I thought the "sunflower" package was an awesome deal; my massage and mani/pedi were all very enjoyable! My husband enjoyed the golf, of course. We had a great, family friendly stay!

Here are some recommendations/areas of improvement needed that we noted, while still having a great time:

*The Splashpad/pool area of Lakeside Sports Center was very particular about not allowing any food in. This was quite difficult, especially without any prior warning or notice given from the resort check-in staff, etc.... This policy is quite a deterring obstacle for families with small children such as ours. We spent several hours there and without having any food options provided by a cafe or snack shack, AND not letting people even bring in snacks (protein bars, apple slices, crackers, string cheeses, etc) is not reasonable for the families with children, that in which the Splashpad area was designed for. This absolutely must change. Please, please revise this rule and/or bring back an eatery option. Children should be able to take a break in the shade, have a protein bar or some fruit, and then go hop back in. It's pretty standard issue. Please, please fix this. :)

*The splashpad, albeit impressive, was pretty intense for something meant mostly for kiddos. Turning down the water pressure might actually make it a bit more welcoming/doable for kiddos. Our 3 and 6 year olds steered clear, as did a lot of kids, I noticed. It actually seemed to receive minimal use/enjoyment in comparison to the pools. Kids and people clearly seemed to prefer the baby pool and the regular pool over the amazingly designed and very fun looking splashpad. The intensity of the water was just way too much! Turn it down and see if this changes! Or, offer some of the water features with lesser pressure than some of the others to add variety.

*Check in is at 5pm? with a check out at 11am? This seems pretty unreasonable; Especially when paying so much. A checkout at noon, and/or a check in at 3:30 or 4pm is much more reasonable, financially considerate, and family-oriented design that the resort really should move to.

Excellent Resort

daniels882017on 04/07/2017 17:19

The view of the golf course is great. The deer coming right to the deck is incredible. Swimming pools, hot tubs, golf courses, the spa and fitness center - all are great. Would highly recommend this resort. Everything is well manicured perfectly. Brassie's Bar has great appetizer specials from 4-6 p.m. daily. The food is great. Try the potato skins. We were very pleased and will be back again and again.

Dog Friendly, Wonderful Walking Trails and Recreational Options

CairoE13on 04/07/2017 06:32

We stayed here four nights. The Resort is huge with at least three recreational areas. You can rent bikes and ride around the resort and connecting bike trails. The main recreational room has a pool, racquetball court and lots of cardio and weight equipment. There is a nice restaurant on site that offers outside dinner dining. We stayed in room 127 which was on the main floor overlooking the golf course. There were deer, geese, and prairie dogs that visited the course. The deer were so friendly you could walk right past them on the trail and never disturb them. The resort is quiet with lots of parking. The room we stayed in was a King with a living room and a kitchen. The kitchen was misses a dishwasher and had a very small refrigerator. The kitchen isn't suitable for meal cooking. Wifi was good. There was an error on our bill, but the hotel staff corrected it immediately when it was brought to their attention. We had a wonderful time, very relaxing, and I can't wait to go back again. We spent lots of time walking the trails with our dog and he thinks this is heavenly. I would recommend a room overlooking the golf course as some of the rooms overlook parking lots.

Not my resort expectations

Noah Ion 01/07/2017 05:31

I'm on a losing streak apparently with hotels. I booked this hotel because it was listed as a Holiday Inn resort, and I am a spire elite with IHG, so my expectations were possibly slightly higher than a standard IHG property. I arrived early, and used the IHG app to state that I would be an early check in. I fully understand that early check in doesn't guarantee that your room will be available just because you clicked on the option. I had no issues when the young lady stated that the room wasn't available. No problem, completely understand. Issues that I had, was she stated guaranteed check in time was 5pm. I said the app says 3pm. She said 5pm, and took my cell number. I did a few work related errands and called at 3pm, the check in time as stated on the IHG app. The gentleman that answered stated that the room was not ready and that guaranteed check in time was 4pm. So what is the guaranteed check in time? 3, 4, or 5pm. Checked in at 4pm, got an upgrade to a king suite, which sounded nice at the time of check in. Got to the room, and looked over the room. The listing states that is resort was renovated.....I believe in 2009. I think they renovated the room with decor from 1990 in 2009. I really expected much better from a "resort" the counter tops in the kitchen are dated, along with the minimal dishes. No dishwasher, only a mini fridge, styrofoam cups for coffee. Maybe I was expecting too much? Marriott knows what a resort means and the amenities are present at their resorts. I would like to say that the balcony is great, it wasn't a shared balcony with other rooms adjacent and the gas fireplace was also pleasant. Nice touches on a drab room. The bathroom was updated, but the Kohler shower head was the worst. Imagine a 20 jet shower head that only used 8 jets. I actually cringed at taking a shower. Painfully slow, and I hope it is only my room. Tried adjusting it but to no avail. I'm trying to list the positives but I just didn't have many. Maybe I just expected more. Maybe my expectations were of Marriott quality?
