Avoid this hotel

Noone was at the front desk when we have arrived. There was a phone to call (I am wondering why the travelers should be charged with a phone call especially if they are coming outside of USA!)
After the call a guy came. He gave us the room keys.
The room was spacious but very smelly. There was humidity on the ceiling. The floor carpet was dusty. We opened the window but didn't help the situation.
After 10 minutes in the room we decided not to take the risk of spending the night in such a place.
So we just took our things and left.
Beyond the fact that such conditions are unrespectful for the guests of the hotel, it might be dangerous for people with respiratory problems. I am wondering who is giving the licence to operate places like that and why there is no inspection.

stay at your own risk

There are good things and bad things about this hotel. Unfortunately the bad outweighed the good for us. When we arrived, no one was at the front desk. Shortly after, the police arrived looking for a 'guest'. When the front desk clerk arrived, she assured the officers that the person was no longer in residence, that the hotel was under new management, all workers were fired and the 'residents' had been cleared out of the hotel. The officers wished us good luck as they left. The room we got was very large and clean but dated. The beds were comfortable. It was quiet all night despite being right downtown by a bunch of bars. We wanted to do some laundry but the machines were broken, along with the ice machine. The restaurant was closed. The elevator smelled like mold. When we left in the morning we found the trunk of our car open-someone had backed into it. At least the police station is only a few blocks away. After filing a police report, the officer told us if we were ever back in Palmer to stay away from here.

don't!

the wash basin had toothpaste stains from the previous guest and the whole hotel, including our room, stank of stale smoke from the time when the rooms were obviously not yet non-smoking. apart from the fact that the turkey red restaurant was just a short walk away, there is not much positive to say about this hotel...

Very nice park just across the street and local businesses within walking distance.

Large room with balcony overlooking park and visitor information center. Staff is very helpful! This hotel is dated, yet room was very clean. Perfect place to cleanup and rest without spending a fortune!

Dangerous place to stay

The room I stayed in was filthy. The inside of the cabinets and dresser drawers were covered in dust. The chair in front of the TV had trash and food crumbs in it and the entertainment system was plugged into an exposed outlet (no outlet faceplate). Then when I went to leave the exit doors to the parking lot were wired shut. I know it was windy but blocking a main exit like this puts everyone in danger. Had there been a fire, earthquake or any emergency people could have been trapped inside the building.
