With relatively close proximity to Bangalore, yet in the verdant surroundings of Coorg, Eco Habitat is Som and Chethanas home & passion in the foothills of Nilgiris. Exemplary hosts in all aspects The two charming villas are scenically placed with a wide green patch in front of them. Constructed from a natural auspicious porus rock which insulates the walls well in extreme weather, the rooms are spacious and have large French windows for ample light. Most guests are pleasantly surprised as a private pool greets them on the right. Inspite of numerous activities which can be incorporated by Som in the itinerary, most visitors like to lounge around the pool. Both extremely affable, the hosts are happy to have guests over to their own home for meals or join them in the gassy patch in front of the house. While conversations drift through Soms explorations in Coorg and anecdotal information on local food and life, one marvels at Chethanas impressive cooking and handling the children at the same time. Apart from the sumptuous food of all genres, the lemon grass tea is a special treat after meals. An idyllic farm like setting with dogs, poultry, cows and also a pony and ample greenery, leaves one with a host of things to remember in this charming home.

What People are saying

Awesome Place

keshava murthy Non 23/07/2017 14:18

Myself and my family of 3 people visited som's ecohabitat between jul 17th to 19th. It's a must visit place if you are travelling to Coorg. It's a mini Earth where you can find all earthly creatures being given space. This place has dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, ducks, cows along with all kinds of vegetables, fruits, organic food items being grown under one umbrella.
We had a 3 day trip with one day going around with som (he was my childhood buddy too..), 2nd day to rafting and iruppu falls and 3rd day for dubare elephant camp and farm tour. Ever smiling Gowrisha took us to farm tour and explained all items grown in their farm and how recycling is done to ensure nothing just goes waste. We realised that if we care for mother earth we can be self sufficient in water and electricity without depending on govt bodies. The cottage was awesome. Had a great time in the pool on last day. My daughter wasn't ready to go back when we were packing up.

Coming to food which was another delight. Breakfast was so king type that many times we had late lunch and no dinner or skip lunch and have early dinner.

Som is developing few more land parcels around Coorg with a similar model where people can invest and get good returns without compromising/harming mother earth. I'm game to it some day in future. Another takeaway from the trip!

A gr8 memorable trip indeed..

This is the place to go to if u want a peaceful getaway. This property is lush, green and verdant. We stayed at one of the private pool villas.Totally enjoyed ourselves. One of the major pluses was the fantastic food here. The food was fresh, had that taste of being home cooked and was absolutely delicious.Especially loved the akki roti, the lemon chicken, the rasam and the fish curry.Spent two days absolutely pampered. The only grouse we had was with the improper lighting provided at night on the path between the villa and the dining area.
Special thanks to Gowreesh and Mukthi who very sweetly fulfilled all our requests. They cleaned the pool whenever we asked them to and one of the employees there actually came and caught a spider prowling in our room.
Loved the cats and the puppies running around.A great break.

Thank you for your hospitality and the amazing home-stay experience!

Team EcoHabitat, Thank you for everthing! We had a wonderful & relaxing 3 days. The whole setup of the cottages with pool, the farm, the animals, the in-house dining - it's all maintained so well and was just what we were looking for. My 3 year old daughter had a blast; and so did we - whether it was roaming & discovering the beauty of the flora & fauna within your farm or heading out to the river, the Dubare elephant camp or even Madikeri! Once again, thank you for your kind hospitality (especially Mukthi & Gaurish), the excellent suggestions as well as for the overall luxurious homestay experience. Som & Chethana, you were truly awesome hosts! We'll surely be back :)

An awesome family vacation!

We (family of four) stayed at Ecohabitat for 4 days in April 2017. Som and his team made every effort to ensure we had a comfortable and pleasant stay. Food was freshly cooked and tasty. Gaurish and Mukti were wonderful in paying attention to detail and took care of all our requests with a smile. They would make fresh paneer from their in- house milk. Som voluntarily arranged for our car to be cleaned on the day of our departure (it was a long road trip back to Chennai). Don't miss trekking in the Western ghats (Som sent one of his staff to guide us and it was a lot of fun). We were truly impressed with Som's passion for the environment - he gave us an educational tour of a coffee estate and explained the environmental impact of coffee and tea estates. The kids enjoyed relaxed afternoons playing badminton and trying their hands at gardening. The cottage was lovely, well maintained and private. The Dubare elephant camp, Tibetan monastery and a day trip to Madikeri were all great. A nice experience for urban folks who wish to get away from the din. Would definitely love to go back!
