What People are saying

Good for body and soul

triphelp555on 18/02/2017 09:34

We arrived via public transportation and had the pleasure to walk into that village. So we could enjoy the quiet and peaceful surrounding. While we had a delicious meal in the restaurant we enjoyed the breathtaking view over the lake and mountain range. We had to wait quite a while for a table. It is recommended to make a reservation. We will do so next time.

A 100% natural experience!

This is one of the most exciting places I've ever stayed! Everything in here comes from natural sources, starting from the construction materials of the house to the coating used inside the rooms and the toiletries. The food was simply amazing and one could taste the freshness of every ingredient.

We will definitely come back!

L'Aubier Montezillon - needs attention!

Natasha Bon 19/07/2014 11:49

We were really looking forward to our stay at L'Aubier, having read some wonderful reviews in guide books. Initial arrival and a quick view of the surroundings felt like it wouldn't disappoint, however sadly with time it rather did.

We had to ask to change room as the double that we had booked was so small, we knew we wouldn't have a decent night's sleep. Then after an hour in the second room (50 CHF more expensive for a twin!), the toilet broke. Upon reporting it at reception we were told that there was no-one there to help us and we would have to wait until dinner was over before the lead waiter could help us. A few hours later and after a blazing row between the two waiting staff during dinner, we were finally moved into a new room.

Can't help feeling that this place was once absolutely wonderful and has been created with much love and attention, however it feels like recently the focus of this love and attention has all been turned towards the central Neuchatel Hotel and Cafe (which we also visited during the day and did indeed seem lovely). If they wish to continue charging the high prices they do, they need to brush up on customer service and a little TLC.We won't be rushing back until this has been resolved.

L'Aubier Le Cafe-Hotel -Great!

I believe there are 2 hotels in different towns for this hotel brand, privately owned. I stayed in the heart of Neuchatel, Multi-story hotel with cafe and 3 floors of rooms. Believe there are 8 rooms total. Stayed 4 nights and hated to leave. Clean, comfortable, friendly, kind staff and Owner. Most spoke English. Yes, Switzerland is expensive, but I found this hotel to be a good value, especially when compared to other larger towns. Location great in old town Neuchatel near the main street, but a block up in a nice square. Grocery store, shops, and restaurants within a block. A short walk to beautiful Lac (Lake) Neuchatel. Quiet at night. Rooms seemed sound proof. Active in day with people walking on other side of square. Close to many attractions for sightseeing, bus station, main rail and boat service is within 15 min. nice walk in opposite directions. From here can take boat to other towns on Lac. Quick train to Bern and other places. Could go west for some hiking. A great little cafe, open breakfast, lunch, and late afternoon snack. Serves organic food and great coffee.
The large room had a comfortable large bed, a large countertop with sink, electric water pot, table and chairs, storage for cloths and other shelves. 3 units on my floor to share a bathroom and shower (always clean.) Code to get into hotel room area after cafe closed (and while open.)
A quiet, safe hotel and town for a woman traveling on her own until she met up with friends in another part of Switzerland.

Very good Eco-experience

Nice place, nice and clean room, ecologic philosophy, wood building, very good staff at reception and in the store, very good farm products in the store, room very quiet and very nice panorame on the lake and on the woods!
Excellent stay, I strongly suggest this hotel!
