Great location but slightly run down
Ga11ego_Ingleson 23/05/2017 18:31Given previous reviews and all the awards on the reception wall, had high hopes for our stay. No faulting the location and vistas. Absolutely stunning. A charming little establishment tucked away with its own piece of waterfront. Though the staff are well meaning and very hospitable, the food is average and the facilities are somewhat run down. E.g. Hot tub empty, wifi broken. Maybe we caught them on an off weekend but it seems the standards have slipped a just little.
less than acceptable
Grzegorz Bon 20/03/2017 17:53Small and dirty bathroom. Personel do not speak even basic English. Stinky sheets. located in very safe area but long distance to walk from the main street - more than 20 min. Staf is not helpful - they even forget to call us a taxi in the mornig flight. not recommended.
Quiet oasis in the busy city
kayak-atitlanon 24/01/2017 16:13I stayed several nights at this property, and was thrilled on so many different levels. The quiet neighborhood is a rarity in the big city. Located in a gated community, and the rear of the property is a wooded forest. I had an apartment like suite that looked out onto the forest. In addition to the suite, there are lots of quiet seating areas to read, relax, or work. Secure parking is a bonus, and the wi-fi was fast. The breakfast (included in my case) was very nice. The staff are professional and helpful.
If there would be a down side, this hotel may be challenging for travelers who do not have a vehicle.
Pretty good
790theresapon 03/01/2017 06:38We stayed here for 2 nights. The pluses: friendly staff, safe location, all the necessities, ability to store luggage between checkout and flight, hot water plus water pressure. The negatives: mosquitos in the apartment, "cafe downstairs" is more like a place where they store yogurt and coffee, somewhat out of the way for tourists. I'd stay here again but if I was looking for a real hotel I'd look at the Holiday Inn up the street.
Unique, charming hotel in the heart of the city
tsmadaon 26/11/2016 18:13I stayed at this hotel the first and last nights of a short trip to Guatemala. Like other Uxlabil hotels in Guatemala, where I’ve stayed on other trips, it is charming and decorated with traditional art and handcrafts throughout. The beds are comfortable and there are kitchenettes in every suite. I will certainly stay here again; however, three comments are required: (1) Anyone with mobility issues will have difficulty; the only suite that I know of that does not require using one or more flights of stairs is immediately off the lobby. Noise is not a problem because the bedrooms are at the back of this suite. (2) The hotel is located within a large, gated community and there are no restaurants within walking distance. The nearest eateries are in the Oakland Mall, a 5-6-minute drive away. (3) The hotel offers a “continental breakfast” for $4.00; however, when I asked for a glass of milk and fruit there was no milk and the only fruit was apples—when melons, papaya, and pineapple are all in season. My suggestion: head for breakfast--or any other meal--at the San Martín restaurant in the Oakland Mall. However, if you don't have a car you will have to call a taxi.
