What People are saying
A Hotel not too far awary from distinction...
MainframeSysopon 15/08/2017 18:00This was my first legitimate trip to Manchester. I have been around and through the city once or twice, but this time I decided I would actually stay there. Call it curiosity or just my nomadic nature. While here, I stayed at the Econo Lodge, which was close to pretty much everything. Fast food, pharmacy, and shopping, etc. are all within walking distance.
Before staying at the Econo Lodge, do a Google Map search (Street View) on the property so you can see what it's like. Usually I do this just so I can make sure parking is on site (which it is). There should be plenty of parking on any given day. But the reason I suggest this is because if you are nervous about staying in an urban-like area, you might want to select another hotel.
Urban-like: Not quite the hood, but hood adjacent. You'll see streetwalkers, the addicted, some homeless. I saw a man fall asleep standing up leaning on his vehicle. Mind you, I was at this hotel for two days.
Ok, so that being said, onto the actual hotel. The building is decently sized, and goes up four floors. The room I stayed in has a large flat-screen TV that accepts HDMI connections (there is a knob on the back you'll need to actuate to get to the HDMI ports). I would not expect a view if you are on the bottom floors. The beds are clean, and so are the bathrooms. The noise level varies depending on where you are in the hotel. I stayed on the first floor, and I can't say the noise was disruptive. The people running the hotel are pleasant, but I would not quite say "Friendly". I asked for change for the vending machine (which did not work as it turns out), and the man took my money and counted out the change... handed it back all without uttering one word. Just a bit off putting.
The negatives: The hotel I believe used to be spotless and perfect, but I think now it needs a lot of rehab. The shower, for example: It was difficult operating the shower head. I'm guessing they suffer from robberies, so they placed really tiny heads on the showers. The refrigerator in the room was missing the temperature knob, but it was fully functional. The primary door should have a ramp (it has a very polite sign that says you need to watch your step). The front of the hotel seems like a place for many to congregate, and possibly loiter. Lastly, they do charge for local calls ($.50). Are the negatives enough to pass on a booking? Definitely not, but I do feel they need to address some of them.
I wish I could give this hotel a "Very Good" rating, but it isn't very good. What it is, it's a place to lay your head, but not much else. If you're stuck on a layover, or meeting friends, this hotel is more than adequate. I would rate this hotel at 2 1/2 stars. My whole diatribe is because I think it could be a four star hotel, but serious infrastructure investments would need to take place. Good stay in any case.
Best bang for your buck!
14Brunoon 29/07/2017 02:40We were looking to get away from the crazy/insane hotel prices of the New Hampshire Seacoast area during high season. After reading the reviews of this hotel, I was a big scare, but you have to keep in mind that you are paying peanuts to stay in this Econo Lodge (just down the road, one night at the Comfort Inn was 144 US$). The room was okay. The smell wasn't the greatest, but the A/C, the bed and the TV were all great. The only negative thing: there were a few sketchy person hanging around the hotel, but that was about it. The service at the front desk was pretty good. We can't complain. I give it five stars because of the great value for your dollar.
Terrible place to stay
Knittingjonion 20/07/2017 22:45Dirty bathroom. The sheets had holes in them. Our allergies went crazy for both of us. Stay here at your peril! When I complained they said they would notify housekeeping! You don't want to stay here unless you can't find anything else! Really! All of my posts on trip advisor have been positive and I'm not a snob but this place was ridiculous! Come on! Holes in the sheets!
Good price value yet the overall property is run down and smells of cigar smoke.
kennstranskyon 03/07/2017 20:31This is a good place to stay if you just need to crash due to a very early morning flight or a very late arriving flight. Don't expect anything fancy as it has more a a feel of a 1970's college dorm hall.
One and only stay...
Shannon Yon 18/06/2017 16:17Tried it and won't stay again... there was an odd smell throughout the building, water stains on the ceiling, slimey tub, the bed was very uncomfortable and only two pillows, the television was far from the bed and at an angle that was hard to see, the remote didn't even have a battery cover on the back, the floor was very uneven and easy to trip on, shampoo only - no conditioner... we didn't do the continental breakfast because we just wanted to get out of there.
We both feel foggy and sore... will not stay there again :(
