What People are saying

Not a bad stay

Lynnsay Bon 03/06/2017 21:57

The staff was nice and the beds are comfy. The room cooled down quickly (air is off when you get in, it was high 60s and humid for reference). The shower lacked pressure. I have thick hair so I notice this stuff. Complimentary soap (2) and shampoo (no conditioner) were provided. The wash clothes and towels are really soft, not stiff and cheap. If the ac fan isn't running you will hear the people above and next to you, luckily for me I need a fan running to sleep. They have normal complimentary breakfast items as well as eggs, sausage, and bacon. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would come back if I happen to be in the area, not camping, again.

Really hoped the bad reviews were wrong........ They weren't

My fiance surprised me with concert tickets in Ithaca New York. We live about two and a half hours away so a few days away from the event we decided to stay the night. There wasn't a lot of availability in the entire Ithaca area for the weekend except for this Econo Lodge. So, reluctantly I reserved this hotel using their "Pay with cash upon check-in" option. I had to work that day so upon our arrival, we were already pressed for time. Upon entering the hotel I was the third person at the front desk waiting to check in. They only had one staff member at the desk for check-ins. There was a problem with the 1st person's reservation. It couldn't be easily found. Once the 1st in lines problems were sorted out, the person in front of me approached the counter. That's when the phone rang. It was someone checking availability from their car which was supposedly 10 minutes away. The desk attendant searched for availability as the other person trying to check in and I waited. She explained what she had available and the prices. She then took the customer's information asked for a credit card to hold the room. The customer must have denied a credit card deposit. She then went on to explain how she could only hold the reservation until 5 o'clock without a reservation and blah, blah, blah. In the mean time, the guy on the phone walks into the lobby and is now behind me in line. She then returns to the couple (Woman and girl) who were in line in front of me.By this time my Fiance is texting me because I've been inside for 20 minutes and we still need to eat before the concert. She concludes with the woman in front of me and I'm next up. She asks my name and she finds my reservation. I explain that I'd prefer to pay cash for the room and she can keep my card on file for incidentals. She then hands me a paper to sign and initial. She then says my total is $134 and change. I reach into my pocket and count out 7 twenty dollar bills and hand them to here. She begins to count 20-40-5060-7080-90100-120140 and looks then looks at me like a deer in headlights. I ask if there is a problem. She then tells me I owe her another $7 and change. I ask how is that possible? My bill is $134 and I gave you $140. You, in fact, owe me $5 and change. She then counts again 20-40-5060-7080-90100-120140. See sir, you still owe me $7 and change. I explained let's lose the change. I gave you $140 and my bill is $134. I gave you too much therefore, you owe me change. Again she counts, looks at the computer and explains the computer is working very slow today. FINALLY, I got my change and room key after standing there for 1/2 hour and a math lesson.

We make it to our room and rushed to get ready for the dinner before the concert. The first thing we noticed when entering the hotel was the worn and loose carpet in the hallways. Opened our room door to find a room with a bed, small fridge, television, and bathroom. I opened the refrigerator door to put our drinks inside and noticed that there is packaging tape where the shelf once was. Also, the room was FREEZING COLD because the heater/air conditing unit in the wall was shut off. I turned the unit on so there would be a little heat upon our return from the concert.

We returned from the concert around midnight. It was then that we noticed the 3 poor excuse for pillows that were on the bed. They reminded us of a throw cushion you would use on a dining room chair. We looked everywhere in the room but no additional pillows/blankets could be found. We then decided to have a drink before going to sleep. We turned the sheets down, poured a drink, sat on the bed and turned on the television. We were probably watching television for 15 minutes when my Fiance noticed short black hairs similar to eyebrow hair. My Fiance has blonde hair and........ well....... I'm gray. Too exhausted to drive home we slept on top of the sheet. We woke up a few hours later, loaded the car and left. Before leaving I asked my Fiance if she wanted to try the free breakfast. She told me she wandered to the snack machine before I woke. She took a look in the breakfast area. It was self-serve, no one there to help. There was an automatic waffle or pancake maker machine and the eggs looked horrid. She handed me my bag of chips and said ""Lets get out of here". With that, off we went, never to return.

Basic budget hotel, no frills

BookGirl5on 27/03/2017 03:51

This is your basic hotel: bed, small bathroom, tv, small frig and microwave. No frills. The room was clean and had the basics. Bed wasn't great, but not horrible. Hotel shares large parking lot with a Rite Aid, JoAnn Fabrics, Pizza Hut, Friendlys and more. The area seems safe. There are nicer hotels in the area, but if you are working with a budget and just need a place to lay your head at night, this will meet your needs. Front desk was friendly.

Clean and comfortable for the price!

BHgymteachon 05/12/2016 02:23

We ended up in this hotel by default after another nearby hotel overbooked us. The Econo Lodge was clean and nice for the price. It was comfortable and quiet as well and we did get a good night's sleep. The breakfast was included and adequate.

The hotel was not easy to find, especially at night. It sits back to the left of the strip mall and isn't well marked from the road. That is my only complaint.

We hope to be back in the future once our daughter chooses Ithaca for college!!

Very happy with this budget hotel

bostonienneon 04/12/2016 05:53

We stayed here in November during Parents' Weekend for Ithaca College. Really appreciated the attentive service including suggestions for restaurants both in the local area and in downtown Ithaca. The rooms were a good size, the breakfast included hot items including a pancake machine, and a tiny workout room is available. Many shopping options including Rite Aid and Joanne's just across the parking lot plus a large grocery store 1 block away.

My only complaint is that my mother was put in a smoking room as punishment for not booking direct. A staff member even recommended that I always book direct otherwise will probably be given a smoking room!!! I had suspected the industry does this but here was an employee mentioning it.
