Worst Econolodge we've stayed at

davidvermont7on 20/08/2017 10:01

Rooms substandard. Breakfast almost nonexistent. Cold cereal and a few pieces of bread.
Beds were very uncomfortable. uncomfortable. Supplies very limited. Should I go on? And the place wasn't inexpensive!

Don't stay

If you want to make sure you have a reservation upon arrival don't stay here. I reserved 3 months ago. The morning of our arrival I receive a cancellation email. Upon calling the front desk worker informed me my credit card was declined. I immediately called my card company thinking something was wrong. This hotel did not try to charge my card, they only said this. I hate to think the worse of anti e, but the only reason I could see for them cancelling is because my rate was low and they could rent for more. Also when I told him there was no way my card would be declined he just hung up on me. I feel this is very poor business practice and didn't want this to happen to anyone else. We did find other lodgings, but an hour away and had to change our plans.

Good enough

We stayed here two nights while we were hiking the Appalachian Trail in the area. It was nice enough, nothing extra, but if it had not been suitable we would have gone elsewhere for our second night. We had the place practically to ourselves, the first night there was no one else, the second night one other family came in. So it was a quiet place for us to rest up on our day off. The room is small but suitable, everything was clean. The clerk/owner was friendly to us and helpful. He made breakfast just for us on the first morning and offered to get up early the second morning to do it again since we had to leave early, but we declined. He had waffles, sweet breads, coffee. I would think that they are busier during ski season. I did feel that the price was too high for off-season and for what they had to offer, but not as high as other places in town. It is conveniently located to the Appalachian Trail.

Budget and good enough

This is a convenient property given the extraordinary prices in town. It is quiet, and has a passable breakfast, comfortable beds and convenient location. Could be a little bit more generous with the ice and be happier to see customers.

Don't stay here

It was the only place with rooms available when we booked 3 weeks before presidents weekend but the most recent reviews were good so I decided to try it out despite the overall poor rating. Big mistake. The room was small and the walls were dirty. The water to the toilet had been turned off so we turned it back on to flush the toilet but then came back from dinner to a big puddle on the bathroom floor. Now we know why the water was turned off. There's no way to lock the room from the inside so at any point anyone who works in that hotel could enter our room. We stayed one night and couldn't get out of there fast enough in the am. Will not stay there again...would rather drive an hour to the mountain in the morning!
