What People are saying

A flop house for construction workers.

Do bot stay here. Run, Hide - go away!
Wow - this was the worst place I've ever stayed. We ended up here because all the hotels we tied in Santee were filled by some kind of golf outing that was going on locally.
What was good: Not much. The lobby was clean. The hot water was hot and (at least in the sink) the water pressure was good. We'll get to the shower later. The bed was okay - not fancy but not uncomfortable. The free Wi-Fi was good.

What was bad: Where to begin?
1) The room was dingy. Old furniture, not very clean.
2) Non-smoking room did not smell of smoke but there were cigarette holes in the very dirty/stained bedspreads.
3) Not too sure of the sheets. They were wrinkled and rumpled like someone had slept in them - could be the fact that they aren't laundered or folded properly afterward but then there was the dead bug and the hair???
4) Toilet seat was broken.
5) A/C did not work. Manager came in and fixed it - it worked for 5 min and quit. Hubby was given a key to the next room for us to move into but when he went to see if the A.C worked there (before we went to the trouble of gathering up all our stuff) he found that the room was dirty and had not been cleaned from the last guest. Empty food cartons on the table, fork on the unmade bed, towels on floor. Gross.
6) Never noticed this until the next morning when I went to shower - no shower curtain!
7) What were those spatter marks on the wall in the bathroom? I don't think I want to know.
8) Just an observation but one of the rooms near ours had foil all over the window. I figure it was a long term guest who sleeps days? There was also a charcoal BBQ grill next to the door. Is that legal??
9) The area where the ice machine is located was a kind of hallway between buildings. It was filthy and overflowing with trash. It looked like it hadn't been emptied in a week.

Bottom line - this place needs some serious help. Doesn't Choice Hotels have any kind of code or regulations on rooms and grounds/premises? Do they never surprise inspect their affiliates buildings/rooms? I have worked in the hospitality industry as Operations Manager for multi facility operations (over 100 properties and several hundred buildings and over 100,000 rooms) and I've seen good and bad - this was some of the worst.

Disappointed

We have been coming here for 3 years either on our way to or from Florida. Usually spend 1-3 nights and do some golfing. This year we booked 3 nights on our way back north. Very disappointed. The room we got was not very clean, the mirrors were all messed with fingerprints, toilet paper holder was missing and generally not a nice space. next morning we went to the breakfast offering. Very poor. The cereal was stale, only bagel and bread offering was white, eggs were under cooked and the waffles came out undercooked as well. Coffee pots were empty so I had to "interrupt' the two front staff from their conversations to ask them to make more. The next day after golf we returned to our room to find the Tv screen so smudged that you couldn't watch it. The cleaners had wiped it with a wet cloth and just left it to dry. Not cool. We complained to the front desk person who promised to speak to the staff about it. The very next day we arrive back from golf to find our room UNTOUCHED. They did nothing..no fresh towels, nothing!! Guess that was payback for our complaint.Down to the front desk again and we received a set of towels in about 10 minutes... this used to be our go to place...

What a trick

We were traveling to Fla. We wanted a place for an overnight. Called ahead to ask if they had a room for the night at the price advertised in a travel book. The lady at the desk was very polite and asked for my name. She said no card was needed to keep the room for us at the price of $45.00,. She only asked us to call if we were not coming. I told her I would be there in approximately an hour. When we arrived, there was a man at the desk, who said he didn't know who the woman was. And insisted I should have asked her name. We found out later he was the owner. He would not honor the price and said a room was $75.00. It was late, we were tired and the motel was rundown.

Older motel, all ground level rooms.

Stayed here on a work trip. Room was clean as for what could be done by the maids.
The furniture is pretty worn. They do have free wifi an free breakfast.
Room was over all ok for the price. I would stay again if needed.

One and Done!

Picked this place for an overnight stay driving south. Price was listed as an Internet special so I thought I would be getting more for the money. The desk staff was very friendly. The internet worked well. The area seemed quiet and safe. There was a restaurant across the driveway so that was a plus
The room had 2 double beds could use a little updating but more than adequate for one night. Carpet was dirty and stained- leave shoes on! I turned on the light on the night stand and noticed thick dust everywhere which made me look for more and I found it everywhere. Turned on the TV and noticed a huge spider crack in the upper corner of the screen- it did affect the picture and I reported it to the desk but I was not there to watch TV and I just needed sleep. I go to use the bathroom and it seemed clean except for noticeable dust and no holder for the toilet paper which was sitting on the floor and was short on towels. The walls are thin and I had to turn my broken TV on to drown out the room behind it of TV noise and conversation. Somehow I slept and when I went to heat up my coffee in the microwave, I gagged at the old food that apparently exploded in it...so much for my coffee. It is a non smoking room and while it didn't smell of smoke, there were lots of butts scattered outside the door. I went to the office for some coffee but the pot had run dry @630? I took some decaf and looked over the breakfast selections and decided McDonalds would be a better choice. Did I get the booby prize when it came to a room for the night? There seemed to be a lot of people staying there. I am pretty tolerant but never again for this place
